The only way league 1/2 clubs will survive if the EFL can help, looking like the National league,. North and South won`t be starting in October good job we are in the EFL. It will all come to ahead when Clubs can`t pay wages like it or not Managers and Players want paying and paying on time or clubs will be in breach of contracts. Going to be a long season hope we get it finished.Walneywanderer1979 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 6:49 pm So let's get to the main issue how long can clubs survive without fans even if we can have 1k fans in before the end of the year surely we cant survive on that and I follow subscriptions

A study published about a month ago showed that reinfection suggestions were actually traces of the original virus still in people. I believe only two cases worldwide are "possibly" reinfections and were both asymptomatic.Hitthebar22 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 6:07 pmDespite suspicions, there is absolutely no reliable evidence that herd immunity is a viable consideration. No scientist in the whole world (9 months plus into the problem) has said that a person can not be infected with Covid more than once. To emphasise the point, if colds and flu are relevant comparisons, we all know that we can can catch/get those afflictions more than once.200miles wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 3:14 pm Evidence was presented earlier this week that after three months the longer term effects in a few people have been diminshing. I also listened to an expert from Sweden this morning where near-freedom exists yet infection rate remains at less than 1.5%. An exponentially rising death rate coming here as other untreated and undiagnosed non-Covid conditions hit home, both physical and mental. I read widely on the issue....good and bad. My opinion is quite firm that the UK is making a big mistake in not opening up more to permit herd immunity to be brought about within the most active part of the population. The underlying reasons that we used to enjoy life here will be seriously compromised and we will all suffer the consequences down the line.
I have seen figures today of the position in France where the infection rate is many times higher than in the UK, which is supporting the low mortality of Covid. If those figures are projected to the UK population then around 165,000 would become very ill and half of those at most would die. That's 82,500 which is almost exactly what SAGE said in a worst case where the WHOLE of the UK population becomes infected (totally unlikely) and is less fatal pro rata to population than Hong Kong flu claimed in the late 1960's.
At the end of the day Football with a capital F (and life in general) will die if we don't get back into stadia and normal activity and the view that the Government has got this completely wrong is growing fast. Maybe it's the lack of acceptance of illness and mortality in the population today, compared to 50 years ago, that's the problem, really.

Re: Fans Returning to Stadiums
It will be very interesting to see if the club reveals how many Barrow fans sign up to watch Saturday's game on IFollow, one thing you've also got to consider is the club will also get an income stream from away matches as well. Let's just suppose 2,000 Barrow fans watch the home game, I think it will be a lot more, surely a similar number will tune in for the Newport fixture. So rough and I know it's very rough, but without any deductions you're looking at around 40k coming in. Last season we averaged around 2,000 a game. The prices ranged from around £15 downwards so roughly you'd be making around £10 a ticket taking into account Concessions, VAT etc so that would be approximately 20k per home game. No income of course from away matches but you'd make money from food, beer etc. If we weren't in the League and didn't have IFollow we would be up the creek but IFollow might just save the day short term. I realise all my figures are very rough but hopefully you can see my point. How are the likes of non league Notts County, Wrexham going to survive without fans ?

I would be pleasantly surprised if we reach 1000 viewers on Saturday

Sorry, I wasn't clear - I was referring to 'pay on the day' viewers.Middleton Nick wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 7:52 pmI think you may be surprised. ST holders watching for free and enough people wanting to see our first game in the EFL might tip it over 1000.

Re: Fans Returning to Stadiums
I’m not saying the government has got it right, far from it, but undeniably it’s a tough gig, balancing economy, education and health. A cursory (or even detailed) look around other countries isn’t showing that there is a better way forward. If there was, everyone would be doing it. Talk of civil unrest is just proving that too many citizens haven’t the wherewithal to hack a prolonged interference with a hitherto comfortable life, doing pretty much what anyone wanted whenever they wanted - e.g visiting friends, going to the pub, going on holiday, going to sporting occasions etc. The reality is Covid IS dangerous, and every citizen has a moral obligation to prevent the spread of it.200miles wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 7:29 pmA study published about a month ago showed that reinfection suggestions were actually traces of the original virus still in people. Re: Fans Returning to Stadiums
I suggested this to Mark Simpson earlier in the week and he admitted he hadn't thought about it until I mentioned it but thought it was a good idea and will do something on the website for this. Perhaps in lieu of an attendance figure seeing as we can't "physically" attend.Broughton Fan wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 8:16 pm Anyone any idea where or if the number of downloads on iFollow are published anywhere

That's it, people should stop expecting not to die of preventable disease. All this clean water has made people complacent.
