Ground requirements for League 1 and 2 are the same Ian, so only the work already planned would need doing.

Ah, that’s one concern I had dispelled then Rich. I suppose the other obvious one would be the increase in players wages.
Anyway, I can’t see us getting much closer than we are at the moment to reaching the play-offs.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

If we got promoted Ian, we would receive more from the Premier league solidarity payment

As of 2020, clubs in League One receive around £675,000 from the Premier League as a "core club" payment compared to £450,000 in League Two

It was widely assumed that we received around £1M when we came up.

Was extra given that first season due to Covid restrictions?

Looking through some sites regarding player salaries - and I have no idea how accurate they are before someone shoots me down in flames - L1 players average is around £4700 pw while L2 players average is around £2000 pw.

Another website suggested Barrow are just about the lowest payers of players in our league how true that is I really don't know

Theres 2 payments. One from the Premier League and another from the EFL. Comes to about a million a season.

To be fair Hornby has said publicly that we pay well; and you can believe it, to attract players to the club. Top 10 budget I think was the quote iirc?

I guess the total wage bill also depends as much on the size of squad as individual wages. And also loan players - as in quantity and how much parent clubs pay towards wages.

We pay 8th or something. They get a document that benchmarks what everyone is paying for stuff. Obviously I don't have access to it these days, but basically we more than punch above halfway for players but were well among the lowest for back of house staff wages etc, in nearly every case.

The thing is every mistake at this level kills you and get two windows or managers on the trot wrong and you are in a world of hurt.

We’ve got nothing left to play for this season now apparently

I should imagine we are amongst the lowest for ticket prices and refreshments at ground. Not sure about merchandise shirts/hats etc et al

Anyway, back on topic

Another chance to get a point or 3 today!

so long as it is mathematically possible, the dream is still alive!
The league is tight at the top and it's down to luck, desire and pressure! Who hold the cards??

Interesting what Freya said about finishing within 6 points of our neighbours, I think that may well end up being the case and who knows, be bloody good fun IF we did make it and we faced them to ultimately decide

Let's see what today brings.
