Rutherford has his best game since Wembley. Why can't he do that more often? Skelton put in a good shift, he offers more going forward than Hessey. It will be a criminal waste of either of them if they're just going to be fighting over the shirt all season.

Good to see James Owen back involved too. It looked like he's never been away.

Cold night, relatively dull game, almost like the calm before the storm on Saturday.

Not a bad game but not exciting either. Good win with 5k banked, hopefully the attendance reflects how many were saving their money for Saturday.
Thought Almond had a pretty decent game especially in the second half, Skelts & Baker did well as did Boyes, we need a decent cup run to keep him interested in staying & perhaps use some of the money to entice him to sign a new contract - he was a constant pain in the arse to their defenders tonight.
The scoreline could of been much wider with a little better finishing/bit of luck & their keeper not making two very good saves in the first half.

Thought the ref was one of the best we've had here this season as well.

Ruthers was excellent first half, long may it continue. Ran at the full back and got balls into the box exactly what a good winger should do, no [SwearFilter] about running round in circles. Hopefully his spell out of the side has done him good, as if he keeps doing what he did tonight then he's very much an asset.

I enjoyed it on the few occasions when my teeth stopped chattering.

We were quick and bright going forward and Ruthers was excellent. A great cross from him for the goal (yes really) but he was busy all night and made good decisions. I'm a massive fan of Skelts but he didn't look quite as solid defensively as he once was. However, he can run outside a midfield player and is more of a left back than Hessey is.

Tom Anderson got stuck right in and had a good game, Peo less so. Flynny.. nae sure.

Alex Ray Harvey was neat and tidy and Richie Baker has got a bit more aggressive which is good. James Owen came on and was James Owen, good to see him back.

Boyes and Almond both worked hard without much really going right, Almond reprised the Ruthers role by cutting inside far too much.

They were ranker than Queen Rank of the Independent country of Rankenshire- shocking, devoid of any creativity. If that's the norm, they'll drop like a stone.

Thought it was a decent game. Should have had a hatfull. Hyde are devoid of most things cept in the diving dept. Glad the Ref got to grips of the lad in second half and correctly booked him.
We are in a good frame of mind for saturday and if all is true about Macc then we stand a better than even chance of getting ourselves ready for Old Traffod

I thought the first half was the worst 45 minutes I'd ever witnessed, ever. And that includes last seasons home match v Bath City. We were poor, they were worse (by a mile)

As posted above Hyde offered nothing more than belting the ball forward trying to get one of theirtrikers beyond our back line but by and large our centre backs deat with that.

Second half was a totally different event and once Baker scored we dominated possession and really should have been out of sight. We're getting the bal lin good positions around the box but still look to play someone else in as opposed to taking a shot.

Lost count of the times we got behind them in good wide areas yet only squared the ball on the deck to their keeper (them neither cross nor shot type things)

YJO - instantly took the midfield by the scruff of the neck. Great to see him back.

Looking forward to Sturday

just as well that chance we created when Almond went past their keeper in the second half didn't come back to bite us in the arse
