Dec 28th 1987; Barrow crossed the Pennines to hammer Frickley Athletic 4-0, with Gilmour (2), Higgins & Carroll finding the net. Our next game a few days later was also away, this time to Workington, and the scoreline was repeated; Proctor, Cowps, Gilmour & Capstick being the goalscorers. Not a bad late Christmas present for the travelling Barrow supporters!

Early in the year Oswestry had been beaten 4-0 at Holker Street, but these weren't the biggest victories of the season; both Matlock & Goole left Barrow after suffering 5-0 defeats.

V Northampton Town in the old div 3 Jimmy mulvaney scored on his debut ,Northampton were on their way from an incredible journey that saw them go from div 4 to div 1 (now premier league ) all the way back to div 4!

There was an FA Cup game away to Tamworth which was a great 4-0 win I think when Mr Brodie was plying his trade with us on loan from York

Nice to see Proccy at the game last week. I was talking to Capper last night in the Berry & he was telling me how much he loved his time at the club.....he must've been a great character to have in the team.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Ray Wilkie once told me that Capper was a great lad who would do anything for the club. He said that if he told him his job for the afternoon was selling raffle tickets he'd go off and do it.

Not sure if Ray was joking!

Fleetwood was pretty special but also remember a 4-0 against Morecambe in a cup replay, drew nothing each at Christie Park on the Saturday and did a job on them on the Tuesday at Holker St. Can't remember and cba looking for year but defo under Sir Ray
