The West terrace would be the ideal place to show it to the spectators, the team and the cameras. I am not a fan of banners or musical instruments but what is proposed does sound reasonable to me

Prefer the portholes tbh, could just imagine Hoss's head poking through the middle looking like he was wearing a big poncho.

Would of thought it would get better media coverage from the Holker street end though.

This thread's response is one of many reasons why despite requests I have been reluctant to do anything in the past few years. In terms of personal preference, well, it's a forum. There are things at Barrow that irritate me beyond measure, I am sorry that this is one for some.

Of course, going through the proper channels, I asked about it and received permission from the club. We don't just pitch up not giving a monkey's, we've always spoke to people around beforehand, signs, etc etc.

It's industrial card so it won't drape Dave and material is difficult to do that way also without being weighted down. Also the wind and weather make that very difficult at HS even on a good day.

Items have never, ever been up during the game and won't be this time.

It's just to encourage the team.

Its not a big bedsheet just a long banner with a message if you are desperate to see the players shake hands stand to the side of it for 2 mins.

So maybe the compromise is that it isn't used when the team comes out (you know, the point where we can all see and celebrate the biggest FA Cup match at HS in many people's living memory) but that it is kept for when they shake hands and then break off to warm up and they can run over and applaud. Seems reasonable, no?
What do you want your memory of seeing your team run out to be? Pride and expectation, or the back side of a banner while most of the rest of the crowd is enjoying the view.

More Banners the better IMO as they have said its only a few mins & they will minimize any disruption as much as they can, Anyhow unless you enter the ground before 2.30 you might not be able to stand in your usual place due to congestion, Any display can only add to the occasion & hopefully capture many younger fans imagination as games like this did for many of us back in the day & they pester their parents to bring them back, Plus it looks good for the camera's, go on Herbie.
