Good bit of cash in the bank and good minutes for fringe/recovering players - all that matters

Slight improvement second half. Kay was the only one who I would be happy to see in the team on Saturday (and Stevens of course). I suppose Remeao Hutton will be there , but he didn't perform well tonight, and I guess Zanzala has to play too.

Interesting that Remeao Hutton played right centre back alongside Ellis and Arthur in the second half with Connor Brown playing out wide on the right hand side.
Wonder if that was because of his pace to cover for Ellis?

I think the idea was to save his legs for Saturday. Changed positions at HT .

Barrow 1 Leicester U21 0

Attendance: 575 including 17 visiting fans

The tie was settled by a wonder strike from Jordan Stevens exactly a minute into added time at the end. Leicester’s youngsters started brightly, winning the first corner. However, 10 minutes two Barrow corners resulted in a blocked shot from James and save from Williams.

In the 19th minute, the ball was in the net following a rebound from a Leicester free kick but was ruled out for offside. At the other end a Mike Jones shot was saved.

Williams went down injured in the 25th minute and was replaced by Zanzala 5 minutes later. Barrow’s No.10 almost made an immediate impact two minutes later when he assisted a White shot which rolled just wide of the right post. In the 45th minute, White’s corner resulted in a header just over the bar.

There were few chances but Barrow were increasingly edging the game, and in the second half dominated possession.

Ten minutes in a good break by Kay resulted in a shot blocked from James.

Ellis was then booked for a foul on Leicester’s No.53 and on the hour, Lillis was at full stretch to divert a Leicester No.60 strike past the post.

In the 73rd minute, good work by Hutton resulted in a James cross and close-range block from Zanzala.

Leicester’s No.49 curled a shot past the left post in the 76th minute and three minutes later a speedy run down the left wing by No.50 was snuffed out in the nick of time.

With ten minutes of normal time remaining, Stevens replaced Mike Jones as Leicester made their third change. By this stage, Leicester were coming under sustained pressure and, after Taylor was fouled, a good block thwarted Kay’s free kick in a dangerous position.

In the 90th minute, White headed past the right post in front of goal and it looked like the breakthrough would not be made in 90 minutes.

However, Stevens had other ideas and his shot from 25 yards out of the right a minute into time added nestled into the left corner for the win. Six minutes into time added, Leicester No.48 had the chance for a last ditch leveller but his free kick in front of goal sailed well over the bar.

Leicester's goal should have counted.
It was not offside.

We were lucky it was only one. A few of the Leicester lads' challenges were unnecessarily crude.
