Taken them almost 5 months to "find" this out, right around our card controversy.... FA aren't finding themselves in the good books for the club, sounds like they're trying all they can to do another 1972.

Shocking from August ruling now on the key part of the season FA is a disgrace should have been sorted in September giving other team an unfair advantage hope ref from last Saturday is getting an 8 match ban!!

A player wouldn't get that for violent conduct. Perhaps watching games from the stands might give him a different perspective of matches. Whatever it's a bloody disgrace

The FA’s disciplinary processes can be glacial in general - there’s several incidents from October in the January round up, for instance - it’s not an anti-Barrow plot.

Anyone thought to consider how the official felt in all of this? In a time where an incredible amount of effort is trying to promote equality in the game, including increasing the amount of female officials in the upper echelons of the English football pyramid, it’s not a good look on Cooper or the club.

We’ll probably never know what Cooper actually said, but it obviously must’ve been harsh enough to warrant such a lengthy ban. It might just be a throwaway comment in the eyes of some, but these can prove to be damaging to certain individuals and I hope this sets a precedent for any future incidents of its kind.

I'm afraid as a former referee who has also been on the receiving end of an 'aggravated breach' of the same law the punishments handed out can appear somewhat arbitrary. In my instance for example the aspect I reported was more the incident itself however I had to include in my report what was said. I won't go into specifics but the term used was more of a throwaway comment as part of a wider barrage but the punishment for this one term was far more than for the incident itself. I'm afraid for me the FA disciplinary protocols, sanctions and support for officials where needed are all woefully inadequate and inconsistent

It's a football match not a church service. I hate the Barrow Barrow Barrow F*****g Soccer chant but fans don't get arrested for shouting it. Commentators on TV constantly apologise for fans swearing and it being picked up by the effects microphone. I don't know what Cooper said and don't really care to be honest but if you are such snowflakes to fine a manager for a comment made at an emotional moment perhaps a football game is not your optimal place
