Barrow the better side by far until the substitutions. The score is irrelevant. They look fitter and faster and have more urgency than last season. Only a guess, but Gotts might be on the way. Cautiously optimistic.

First half was much better than the second, but there were mass changes so that’s understandable.
White was on the end of more chances in the one game than he has been since we signed him, certainly put himself about. Foley looks decent and I was quite impressed with Whitfield - who forced a good save off their keeper in the first half.
As others have said, it’s a bit worrying we are going into the season with the players we have up top, we desperately need Bennet back sooner rather than later. Hopefully we’re still in the market for another striker.

Shape looks good, commitment unquestionable, forcing mistakes and winning the ball and the majority of 50:50’s but once again against a level of opposition we will face every week where are the goals going to come from?

Before the negative tossers start, we all realise scoring is gonna be our weak area, again. Today we totally outplayed the 3rd favourites to win our league. We have an excellent squad, defensively looke solid and organised, midfield we have some great technical footballers, Foley and Neal were excellent first half, as were the full team to be honest. Certainly a bit of deja vu. However, it did sound from commentary as though we played pretty well in the second half. Forward play sounded quite lively and defence didn't seem seriously troubled. "Trialist left back" seemed to be in the the action quite a bit.

Waters reminds me of Jason Walker;- the way he runs and the runs he makes.
Foley gets on with the game, solid and gets stuck in
Ray will start along side Canavan, good positionally, calm and good in the air.
Whitfield looks like a cross between Josh Kay and George Williams - a great signing.
Warren steady, knows the roll Wild wants him to play. The back 4 look more solid than the back 5 we had last season.
best signing so far though on the last 2 games is Harrison Neal - Imagine Jason Taylor about 15 years younger, but will more skill. Or as Adam said - Ryan Yates. That's the type of player he is.
Agreed on the Foley and Neal combination in midfield.
Neal stood out at S Shields last week. A bit Biily Bremner but not as much mouth

Dominated the game and we were swift organised and should have won. Foley and Neal excellent as were the back 4 and Waters and Tom White looks like a new player . Gone is the slow sideways rubbish we watched last season. We look fitter , quicker, more organised , playing to a much better standard , but again failed to score. Wasn’t for lack of chances. Salford had 3 shots. Think we had about 10. Salford lots of niggly fouls to beak up our excellent midfield play. Rather excited about the season now. Just need to start scoring!

Agree 100% Salford being third favourites has to be the worst ante post price anywhere the worldy goal apart they were awful

Don’t think there is anyone coming away from that game with a negative view because for large parts of the last two final friendly games against good opposition we’ve been excellent and certainly showed we can compete but you’ve highlighted the “weak area” yourself. Translate that into league games we’ve come away with nothing.

Wouldn`t class the goal scored by Fleetwood or the one scored by Salford as `wonder goals`; they were good strikes .... but `wonder goals`, come on!

The manager has said it and we all know it that we need to get another striker in. However, easier said than done. If Bennett has some sort of shin fracture (hopefully only a hairline one) that will take weeks to sort out as they are difficult injuries to shake off.
Did any of the trialists impress today? Were any of the trialists forwards?
