Re: The Play offs
Dare to dream?
We have to, we have a responsabilty to believe as fans, as the "Twelfth Man" (and woman) as the vibes filters from the stands, the forums the air.. the players do feel it!
Believe, why not? with a little luck, the newbies clicking and you never know! you never know till you throw the gauntlet down and give everything you have.
As Ive said previously, if I were PW I genuinely would say to the players, look me in the eye, look yourself in the mirror and finally go outside and look a fan in the eye and say "I gave it everything! its an honesty thing and if PW can gain that honesty and integrity from his players and he can breed belief and confidence, I believe we can have a pop!
Me personally, i dont like to see in the world "that will do" "I/we Cant".... [SwearFilter] YES you can, no matter what job you do, no matter what walk of life, there is always chance to improve, go that bit further but it takes hard work and courage.
Wave a white flag and accept mediocre final positions or take a leap of faith and energize the ground?
Anyway, I do believe.. whilst there is a chance, no matter how small, there is hope!

Re: The Play offs
just to add to this...
I have a new position where i have 50 odd people under me who are predominantly from Carlisle and the majority of them follow their team and they have all said that the game the other night, we were far better than them firdt half and we are a good team, they said it was luck that made them and broke us. I would agree, as the luck is needed for any success but being broken by their luck, it was our mentality and belief that disappeared faster than a bullet from a gun...

Re: The Play offs
Everyone will agree that hard work and giving everything in the shirt is the absolute minimum but there has to be quality and ability on top of that as well as a step back and realistic view. Think Wild himself is level headed about where we are.olbarrafancumbak wrote: ↑Fri Feb 10, 2023 9:56 am just to add to this...

First things first -Wild is putting a platform in place and he’s trying to embed a culture and style that can see us compete and that all elusive consistency is key to success. Don’t forget it’s his first season and he’s had two windows.
Not saying we won’t get to the top 7 and we should always aspire to get promotion I’m just not seeing it from our position right now. After a baptism of fire first two seasons and multiple managerial changes we are now hopefully getting stability and a footing to build on. Think we are looking at a mid table finish which is marked progress that all will recognise.

A win today and we’re right back in the mix.
Re: The Play offs
Head says too soon for promotion as we haven' yet built a solid foundation. Heart says playoffs would be fun and generate excitement and income.

Whilst being in or around the mix, let's go for it!! What's needed or what needs to be done can and always will be dealt with "IF" the unthinkable arrises.
But yes, excitement and fun would be amazing for the club to even experience it.
Keep going, keep getting the points and lets see where we end up.
But today, let's bang the bogie team!

Agree 100%. As soon as you believe that there is seriously something to play for, that''s usually the point at which it all goes wrong.olbarrafancumbak wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 9:08 amWhilst being in or around the mix, let's go for it!! Said 12th-16th above and tbh I haven't shifted much from that position - although I'm now more inclined to think we might actually be able to finish in the top half which would be a terrific seasons performance. Although our results have been more like the start of the season of late we need to keep in mind that there are currently nine not seven capable teams in front of us and to overtake at least three of those in the last ten games would be asking quite a lot.
Lets just give it what we've got and see what happens.

We do indeed and if we all believe and get behind the team, who knows what we can achieve!32mile_cul-de-sac wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 10:29 am We have a chance and keeps our season alive. A famous footballer once said, football is a funny old game.
I always believe that the players feed from the fans, the feel the anxiety, they feel the doubt but they thrive on the energy when the fans get right behind them!!
The extra effort required sometimes comes from the terraces, it fills them with something that gives them the belief and desire, they do go that extra mile and have that little extra bite!!
Its been fine margins most of the time, we have not been thrashed all the time on our defeats.. (not mentioning the odd one) we have been close and either lady luck or that extra from us could have and should have made the difference.
Lets get our points today, put another bogey team to bed and come together as one and believe.

Re: The Play offs
The other thing is we have nothing to lose because it’s only the last few weeks we’ve hit form again. There’s more pressure on the teams that have occupied the play off spots for a longer period and have aspirations of going up automatically. Can you imagine mentally how say a Northampton player would feel trying to make it through the play offs come the end of the season if they miss out going up automatically. Add that to last season’s final game scenario when Bristol Rovers pulled off that infamous win.
Re: The Play offs
Will be interesting to see how this run in ends up. We have nothing to lose and an outside chance for top 7 but that form in the New Year has left us with a lot to do.
Win four on the bounce starting today and I’ll reconsider.
