Just a couple of observations. Who's to say he wasn't offered a contract worse than the one he already had or perhaps he was 'tapped-up' and made an offer by another club who have since back-tracked.Whatever the reason I for one would welcome him back. We know what he has in his locker on his 'good' days and perhaps we now have a calming influence with experienced pros like the Port Vale lads who'll keep him on the straight and narrow.PW knows him well by now and will clearly have marked his card.All still speculation of course so we will wait and see.

More like that as a professional footballer he needs to have a wage coming in, so if nobody else wants him for better terms than we have offered then he stays with us. In some ways he's lucky to have another chance with us having turned us down.

Didn’t Josh collect less cards last season?

A few different scenarios “may” be at play here.

If we did offer slightly reduced terms & he now wants to come back & his replacement or indirect replacement is already here ie a new lad who can also play his role & others then we might have fallen lucky ie He returns knowing that he probably will be rotated more or be down the pecking order & we get a fresher player who has matured & a more positive action & less flouncing, A bit like a super sub.

Or he’s returning just to train with the lads he knows while he’s weighing up his options.

Bring him home. Worrall and Whitfield (who can only last about 60 minutes a game) aren’t gonna last a full season between them we need options

Personally I hope Josh Kay is allowed back.He is an impact player who when he is brought on can make a difference to a game.He has a fantastic turn of speed and can bring the ball from one end of the pitch to the other,a useful skill to have.
I think he must have realised by now that has made a massive mistake by thinking his worth was more than Barrow were prepared to pay him.He is still fairly young and with the right players alongside him can only improve.
Ok he has been the 'enfant terrible' but hopefully he has now learned to control his temper.I say give him one last chance and he may shine with all these experienced players alongside him this season and I think he would be a useful addition coming off the bench.

One of the problems with Josh has always been that we have ended up relying on him too much. With the shortage of material threats up front he’s been put in situations that don’t really suit his temperament. He does put in his better performances when there is less expectation.

I’d be happy to see him back simply because he’ll have half a dozen good days when he usually scores…..and they are rarely tap-ins.

Kay scored 4 league goals last season, not many but his goals were worth 8 points to our team who lacked goals from around the pitch, including two winning goals in back to back 1-0 wins v Bradford and Stockport- ie Josh is a big game match winner who scores goals others in our team simply would not take on (remember Hartlepool / Barnsley)

Its only natural for a player who has been here for a long time to want to see what else is out there. It doesn't mean he’d be any less committed when he pulls on the shirt. Plus I think he's probably one of the jokers in the dressing room, so good for the team spirit.

Frustratingly inconsistent, and too much of a luxury on that basis. Transparently wind-uppable as well. If he was dispossessed, we all knew there was a foul coming on an opponent within 10 seconds. Got booked/sent off needlessly too often, and let the team down accordingly. Likeable, and could be excellent in bursts.
