Re: Barrow v Morecambe
"The Club would like to make it absolutely clear that we abhor discrimination in all its forms and will take the strongest action possible, including pursuing life bans, for anyone found guilty of racism."
Is that included in the punishment, do we know? Not welcome at Holker Street for future fixtures between us?

He WAS arrested, and then released on bail.32mile_cul-de-sac wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 11:45 amIf it had been a fan they would have been arrested, cant have different rules for anyone else.Jim wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 11:16 am
I did think, at the time this was reported, that it was a bit 'sledgehammer and nut' to call for the cops. Surely a fellow member of the Morecambe contingent, or failing that, a Barrow Director or, failing that, a Steward, should have had a word with the offender and told them that comments like that are out of order.
Obviously he did something wrong, which he has admitted, hence the nature of the resolution.
The precise facts of what he did, to my knowledge, have never been revealed, but the general nature of his conduct is out there.
It’s implicit that the victim in the resolution would have been consulted. I’d say that’s important.
Anything with a racist element is to be abhorred, but this didn’t appear to be a protracted or far reaching incident.
I can only guess, and naturally can’t put it forward as knowledge, but I’d expect the Morecambe chairman to be hugely embarrassed by the whole thing, given his perceived standing within his club, and football as a whole. Also his card is permanently marked.
An appropriate resolution of an ugly incident where the detail of it is unknown to the vast majority.

Re: Barrow v Morecambe
To be fair to the club, it was in no way responsible for the comments made and the fact that they were made by an official of the opposition put them in an unusual and particularly difficult position.
I guess we should remember that the offence (I'll call it that) is a matter between two individuals and not two clubs in terms of how the law sees it. I think however that most people would accept that a higher level of behaviour would be expected of officials representing their clubs and this would seem to be accepted by bodies such as the EFL who's punishments for verbal transgressions seem pretty draconian by comparison. For example lets remember the comments made by Mark Cooper (I think regarding female officials) whilst he was with us that earned him a serious ban. Or those allegedly used by Josh Kay to an Orient player (I think regarding his sexuality) that earned him a six match ban.
It's not difficult to see why some might see this latest incident as a bit of a fudge therefore. Like it or not it does also set a precedent for our club should such an incident occur again whilst not involving an opposition official. Any difference in the response and people will cry foul. My guess would be that the Club may have suggested to Morecambe that in the light of these events and to avoid any future nastiness, that said official should find a reason not to attend this fixture again in the future.

Re: Barrow v Morecambe
Don’t think anyone has suggested that Barrow AFC are at fault in any way; the contrary in fact. Every incident is specific to its own facts. To my knowledge what the Morecambe chairman actually said or did, precisely, has not been revealed. Compare and contrast with Cooper “don’t you know this is a man’s game?” got him in deep water, which he waded out of by his ban not being extended to Yeovil games, having been sacked by us.Suffolk Blue wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 2:05 pm To be fair to the club, it was in no way responsible for the comments made and the fact that they were made by an official of the opposition put them in an unusual and particularly difficult position.

Re: Barrow v Morecambe
His comment was on this forum at the time and it was aimed at Emile Aquah. Read the Morecambe thread.
He was taken from the stands and arrested.
Now he has admitted the offence Barrow AFC should ban him from the ground

Re: Barrow v Morecambe
theres was plenty in and around that heard exactly what he said. he should be issued with a club ban at the very least, just like those lads who said nasty things about a member of staff online and got year long ground bans. as a club who says it is against all forms of discrimination, atm it obviously doesnt look like it

Sure he will receive a club ban like the young lads who were nasty online. Not even racist in a football ground and arrested at half time with no punishment

The "alleged" perpetrator (I don't believe he has been officially named) might not be at Morecambe the next time they visit Holker Street https://www.beyondradio.co.uk/news/loca ... atch-club/

It’s also quite possible that the current owners of Morecambe could decide to sack the entire BoD given the statement made by them a few days ago essentially passing a vote of no confidence in the Bond Group.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 4:00 pm The "alleged" perpetrator (I don't believe he has been officially named) might not be at Morecambe the next time they visit Holker Street https://www.beyondradio.co.uk/news/loca ... atch-club/

I expect the club statement announcing the life ban will be coming out anytime soon……..Lancaster Branch wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 1:35 pm "The Club would like to make it absolutely clear that we abhor discrimination in all its forms and will take the strongest action possible, including pursuing life bans, for anyone found guilty of racism."
Is that included in the punishment, do we know? Not welcome at Holker Street for future fixtures between us?

Yup as soon as you see a feral gang of over 70's clawing at a partition in the Holker St end throwing smoke bombs and fireworks get them thrown out and banned for life
