Don't let the old man in.
Re: FA Cup replays
This statement needs to be supported by all clubs from League 1 down.MisterPleasant wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 5:41 pmGood on 'em and if what they say is true it makes the decision even more disgraceful.Cubbins Paratrooper wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 5:25 pm https://www.tranmererovers.co.uk/news/2 ... p-replays/

Re: FA Cup replays
Heard the player wellbeing excuse trotted out on 5Live tonight. FFS these are supposed to elite athletes being paid hundreds of thousands a week in some cases, and they are too tired to play. Bless!barrow1987 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 3:24 pm Will say it's all about player wellbeing I.e workload. Whilst also agreeing to play more champions league games and bring in new European competitions

Re: FA Cup replays
This is typical of the big clubs. They want to keep the lions share of tv rights etc. That is why they wouldn,t agree to the new funding formula.I wouldn,t be surprised if the new European Super League raises it,s head again so they can keep even more money .Without the lower league clubs football will become a circus just like the the American football league.Like has already been said the FA Cup Committee was not even involved before the rules were changed .Shameful and Greedy.

Re: FA Cup replays
If the clubs refused to go in the F.A. cup that would be interesting.
Re: FA Cup replays
United withdrew from the competition. They offered to play a reserve team in the competition because they were required (apparently on the insistence of the government) to play in the inaugural World Club competition in Brazil. FA refused to allow them to put in a reserve team. Whatever the facts they did not get a bye to the 4th roundCromwell58 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 4:27 pm Went down hill when Utd were given a bye to the 4th round so the could play a exhibition match, the semi's at Wembley and matches played whenever Sky dictated.

Re: FA Cup replays
A shocking decision made by the Elite once again.
They already can't agree on funding now this.
Agree with everyone else. It would be great to see all the clubs EFL 1 and below pull out of next seasons competition.
Time for the fans all over the country to ditch Premier league football off their monthly subscriptions.

Re: FA Cup replays
It would be better still if Premier league fans showed their support for ALL football and boycotted their games.
Such a shame that the powers that be are allowing this competition to be down graded in such a way. It is still watched all over the world and the magic is still there whatever they have tried to do to it.
No better feeling than watching a giant killing game when the "little guys" are victorious.
Shame on those who voted this in

Re: FA Cup replays
Don't know if I am missing something, but what difference does it make to the big clubs if clubs in EFL1 and below have replays in rounds one and two?

Re: FA Cup replays
I hope Barrow put a statement out and every club at the lower levels should also do the same.
Re: FA Cup replays
Like most others it seems, I agree that the total loss of replays - a significant asset to a great competition with strong traditions and history - is unwise but also puzzling.
The problem that it seeks to address appears to be too many fixtures for 'top clubs' but removal of the vast majority of replays would have no effect on that issue yet, for the vast majority of the competition's entrants, it is a loss that has been so well explained.
For me, the real interest in the Cup comes with the mismatches of teams from different levels at early stages of the competition and once we reach the situation of top clubs playing each other in late rounds I lose interest. I can see that dropping replays there might help with the perceived 'problem the Cup causes'. Dropping all replays, however, will reduce the number of those games with mismatches and, for some of us, reduce interest. It will also reduce the opportunity for broadcasters with the FA Cup rights to televise games and that, presumably, will mean lower payments for those rights.
Clearly, many L1 and L2 clubs, including our own, have an urgent need for the money from the Premier League that seemed to be coming this summer but which has been stalled by the apparent self-interest of some of its biggest members. Perhaps the proposed Cup compensation from 'top clubs' may simply be another bargaining chip from those clubs in their desire to hold on to as much of their tv riches as possible.
There is an attraction in EFL clubs sharing that money but a different attraction in seeing to likes of Cray Valley Paper Mills FC having a moment in the spotlight and a windfall coming their way as a result of their endeavour.

Re: FA Cup replays
Eventually will end up like other European Cups.
Midweek fixtures. No Replays. No Extra Time.
