I am of the same view. It's not a good ground at all. Once away fans have ticked it off as visited only the die hards of the visiting teams tend to come back. York City is a great example in what a new stadium can do for both the community and club attendances. Average attendees are now more than double what they were during there final season at Bootham Crescent.

A recent poll has shown that an overwhelming number of cats who expressed a preference, thought that a multi-use shared community stadium would be a massive benefit for our club and the wider community. We don’t as yet know if the owners have actually engaged with Team Barrow or not, even if it was to say ‘No thanks’. They seem to have been very quiet this season and I can’t recall any rallying cries, positive output, teasers or insights on what’s to come which isn’t really like them.

There was an admission in the summer that they were trying to attract investment and this doesn’t seem to have been successful to date. There was also a mention of developing the Popular Side which doesn’t seem to have been commented on any further either. Should we be worried or is there a big announcement just around the corner? I think that now would be a good time for a (hopefully positive) message from above.

If the current owners are looking for an exit strategy maybe our long term future does indeed lie within the scope of the Barrow Rising project? If it ever did come to saying SO Long to the SO Legal I would imagine it would be about five years from now and I could see the old place as housing as there have already been developments north and east of the ground. You could develop a decent-sized estate on there with a nice green in the middle and an adjacent duck pond! The owners could recoup money that way I guess if sold with planning permission or maybe they could develop the site themselves and profit from it for evermore. So as we approach our 125th year at Holker Street, you have to wonder where will we be 125 years from the noo? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see!

Listening to the Barrow social this week the lack of Q&A this season was mentioned and something I was not aware of is that its an EFL regulation that a club has to host so many Q&As with fans every season. It was said that perhaps when Andy Whing attended the AGM of both the trust and the national supporters club that might have ticked that box for one Q&A.

There's just bigger calls on the money for me.

To make brownfield sites more attractive for developers we have to clear them first. Otherwise there isnt enough money in it for investment.

Town centre plans had to change because of the asbestos, all going to cost more and its commercially very sensitive as certain property owners will attempt to hold us to ransom.

The council who everyone blames for everything have had 40 percent budget cut in last decade. Meanwhile speculators and greedy, out of town private landlords are directly responsible for the shitness of housing in Central and elsewhere.

They dont set business rates, and they dont own the vast majority of the derelict sites.

Then there's the fact that we have to pay millions to private companies to run care and housing.

And don't get me started on the lack of facilities to play sport here for kids.

Weve got to make the money count. Find out who is making the decisions and lobby them. Much as I love Barrow AFC, for me, a new stadium, no. Being paid to redevelop the community offer, the education offer at the club, more realistic.

But just MO. Possibly based on some knowledge.

And btw, totally understand the lack of confidence in public sector not messing up the funding. But giving it away to the market and hoping for the best has got us here.

Why can’t the two happen together and be part of a bigger scheme? Thats the thought process I think. Not one without the other.

Again just imo, finance and priorities. Weve got to make Barrow somewhere more people want to live, stay and study in.

I have heard it said by someone 'in the know' that BAE could be employing up to 30,000 people by 2030. If that happens this will be a boom town and AFC should benefit from it. Many will say they are all contractors who go home at weekends, but there will be full-time posts too.
Sometimes the contractors actually up sticks and come to live in the area, so the 'Great Provider' might help AFC as well.

Unfortunately a hell.of a lot do live away and travel up daily. I don't think there is such a thing as relocation packages like vsel used to do are there?

Ex wife's family came here via the relocation package if the time..
