Given the angst between fans of rugby and soccer, I'd say that could quite easily be turned the other way round too, if you were being honest. But why let honesty mar your point.

Why not - he's a local lad
Do we think Des would want to work with the current board

Id doubt he would.

The Rugby are in an advanced stage of planning various ground improvments for Craven Park (Id expect reconstruction to begin within 6/8 months if not sooner)
I,ve no idea if the Footy are involved in this but id doubt it.
The Rugby are really going for it, with major improvments across the board both on and off the pitch, they will have a smashing modern stadia we will have Holker St :flag:
Id love them them to share a new or improved stadium at either H'St or CP dont care which as long its the best one for the job, the Council should really give both clubs an interest free loan or something similar as both clubs add to the towns appeal and bring in visiting fans who add to our economy.
Both clubs to share everything 50/50 and recieve ALL MONIES GENERATED FROM THE STADIUMS USE.

Both codes have to upgrade and deal with the here and now scenario of course, but that shouldn't negate any long-term plans e.g. for the next 100 years plus , for a shared/community stadium for the area to be proud of. I think it will happen but probably not in my lifetime, but I have a crazy notion that my yet-to-be born grandchildren will take their kids there - rugby one week soccer the next. Better than watching the Premiership franchise on TV in their AIG jimjams, in awe as they watch 22 African multi-millionaires diving all over the show.

Wish I could share your optimism - I can't see see this PLANET being around in 100 years never mind a football ground!

Quite right what Mike wilson is saying about the rugby ground.I believe the willie horne stand may soon be full length and right along the tesco end and with corporate boxes for phase 1.
The clive street terrace will house the new raiders bar underneath and club shop and the terracing above running full length roofed with new floodlights.
Beyond that heard nowt for the town end
This from a relative of a director who reveled the immediate plans....No idea though if the soccer involved

Is'nt 51% a Majority
We will be left behind if we are not very very careful, maybe that can be seen as a good thing, but I for one don't share that view.

Yes it is - shame the poll didn't return 51% in favour!
