I queried whether they'd introduce student season tickets based on that and got told:

"I will be changing the online pricing list later to reflect, the fact that we will be offering a student season ticket at the same price as a concession. These have never officially been offered before (we have checked the records!) however if is a known demand then we will offer them. As the season tickets have already been printed, those who buy one in between now and the end of next week will have to collect their tickets at a later date.

This does mean that the single match ticket price will be increased slightly and will match the concession price also."

They've got to look at the whole target audience and incentivise tickets all the time, things that don't work- bin it and keep improving. Be ready to bring in ticket deals for Christmas, back to back games, Incentivise for the mid week games that are up against the Champions league and always our lowest gates. etc etc. Four home stubs, - 5th game half price. Etc Got to really focus on this. Putting the gate price up to £17 will not get the floating fans in if we aren't winning 3-0 every game.

We've been having these conversations frequently since 2008/09.
IMHO my proposed Discounted 5, 10, or 15 ticket block buy, covers most of these bases, Families wanting to try us out on a whim or mates down the pub fancying it as a 1 off for a change, same for Contractors working in the town for midweek games & shift workers etc

These would also cover any specials like a group of games over the festive periods or any cluster of games the fixture panel may conjure up, these could even be offered to groups or big/small businesses (ie) The Club visit Glaxo, BAE or suchlike promoting the club to a new target audience, mates sitting together would divide the cost between them etc.

May be even help diffuse the student ticking time bomb if they club/attend together.

These type of block tickets work best for the club when the club controls the food/booze/shop outlets as these extra or newbie fans buy stuff while attending (do we still rent the food truck pitches, therefore wont see any extra benefit there, unless they charge a pro rata rate base on attendance figures) but the bar & shop should see increase revenue in part helping financially to offset the discount on tickets, but speculating to accumulate should always be their mantra.

Based on whatever agreement we have with the food trucks Could we not sell Pies, Pop & confectionery in the actual ground with a couple of volunteers or PT employee's walking the terrace/stands selling these items? (Example) the Rugby Introduced a mobile bottle bar selling booze on the terrace & to help with the HT rush on the bar, would this be doable/feasible?

Also if any of the newbie's who buy these block tickets enjoy the experience and buy further blocks down the line & turn from every once and awhile to semi regular attendee's the Club (wins) also having a rampant commercial hat on for a second, At the season's end a fair few could have extra tickets remaining they need to use up, They either don't attend or bring along different mates/family members with them just to use up the tix & either way the Club wins (again) through increased match day revenue on food/drink or club shop & newer attendee's to hopefully win over or they dont use the remaining tickets already paid for, Yes it's ugly but that's commercialism for you.

I'm a bit lost as to what's going on now.
Maybe there's a group of people in that age group the club don't want to see attending matches

What started as a little season ticket enquiry has mushroomed into 11 pages and I am sad to say I believe the club have got the pricing wrong yet again. :(

Looking at the ticket categories the 18-21/(22-25) & students jumps out as the missing ticket at Barrow and has been for years. The price leap from the 11- 17 ground season ticket to full price adult is a 180% increase. Same on match day itself- over double the price. It just feels too much of an increase at an age when many young adults will be forking out for everything else. Just my opinion of course, but that is the one group of fans that the club should be looking to get in in numbers.

I've been banging on about this for years now. It's not cool to be a Barrow fan and this needs to change and this certainly isnt going the right way about it. In a time where students fees are going up, no maintenance grants and EMA's being cut this seems like a massive 2 fingers up the fans of tomorrow.

Not the best start.

Has to happen surely, it's a massive [SwearFilter] up commercially and PR wise if not even by our disastrous standards. I just can't see how anyone, anywhere would think this is a good idea or anywhere near an acceptable thing to do. Nothing changes it seems, not a good start for the new commercial manager sadly.

My plucked out of my arse pricing structure would be

Under 16's with no real income - free

16 to 21 who are most likely in higher education with low income, on a low income / minimum wage job or a low income apprenticeship or, without getting political, NEET - 5 quid

Its been said many times before but youngsters are the clubs life blood for the future and should be encouraged whatever way we can. I'd be happy to pay an extra couple of quid on my entrance fee to subsidise that pricing.

But really the club should try doing a little market research on the whole pricing structure to optimise attendances. We probably all, including the club, have thoughts on what the best pricing system is but the market will dictate it, as with anything that involves the exchange of goods and services for cash. We can't just copy other clubs because Barrow is quite a unique place economically (compared with other towns in our league, though some posters on here are poverty deniers). Get someone out into town with a clip board, set up an online survey etc and find out what people can afford / are willing to pay and base the admission fees on that.

I've been informed that those potential changes have been scrapped and they're going to stay as the are at the £8/10 a game for students. Not sure where that leaves the possibility of a student season ticket but at least the prices they've just advertised aren't going up!

Good job the club reads the forum or else they wouldn't have been able to bury this mistake as quickly.

Good news, nice to see a bit of common sense for a change, however it shouldn't have taken the bad comments on a forum to realise it was a poor decision

Good to see that the student ticket prices have dropped back - £3 less than last year which is excellent.
I recall the opening game last season I went to collect my ticket and asked for a student, only to be told there is no such thing and to pay the full adult price. It soon changed during the season.
