Yeah was the best atmosphere in a long time, still gutted myself, don’t personally agree with the managers comments about “when the dust settles” it’s settled and the town could have had a huge celebration, which it got robbed of last time coz of Covid, and this time on the last few games, but overall a great season. PW has the 3-5 year plan which must show that the board are backing him again next year. Sporting director mentioned a while back they were scouting new talent, so who knows.

Manager has a lot to do this summer and next season now.
If he is to be considered a good up and coming manager, he has to be better than the last two seasons and better than what he did previous..

If I could suggest one thing to him would be to stop with the "look at who were are" "let's not forget where we came from" because if he has doubts, how the hell is the team supposed to believe that we are actually bigger and better than what people think?
Like others have said, IE made his players believe, he made the support believe because he shouted from the rooftops and made sure everyone got the right mentality.

In some respect, it looked like PW was conceeding long before the.mansfield game and that element of doubt can't of been helpful.

I disagree with that - consider the number of times in the later-season interviews that he emphasised that the team needed to be "the best version of ourselves", possibly suggesting a certain frustration that he felt the team hadn't been that.

Against a background of what he termed "catastrophising" the club's situation by some folk (and if he meant the opinions of a few on here then perhaps he should have been ignoring it!), he was correct to emphasise continued development over two seasons from a low position (which could easily have been lower and came about only because of Rob Kelly rallying the troops).

We are disappointed that we missed out so narrowly on the play-offs this season, even if only for the kudos and the extra income rather than a sense of entitlement to a League One place. One extra goal in the right match would have seen us over that line whereas last season we were 13 points (potentially 14) from such a place - another remarkable improvement under the current management team.

I know it must be very tempting for a manager to come on here and see what people are thinking. However there is such a diverse range of views, which after all is what a forum is about, that I don't think it serves any manager any useful purpose.

Some people are bound to disagree with various things he's doing, and it will be these negative criticisms which stay in his mind.

If I was PW, I'd stay away from any form of social media and be your own man!

One thing id like to see next year is changing this tactic of sitting off teams. We did it all year and i agree it worked at times but not once, home or away did i see a team sit off against us. It gives teams an easy foot hold in games especially at HS where we should be at it from the off. For me it stems from the fact our forwards are lazy. In an interview PW eluded to the reason we did it in 1 game was to nulify a low lying midfielder that would rip us apart. Every team in the league must have had one

Agree. This way of playing is in PW’s DNA. I doubt he’ll ever change it because it is based on principles that he believes in.

He won’t try and change it. He’ll just try and do it better or invest in players that he thinks can do it better..

I’m not so sure. We ended the season second bottom of the form table over the last 10 games. Football analysts in the New Year suggested we had been “getting away with it” in games (thanks go to Paul Farman - player of the season). only one player in the top 50 goal scorers and one player in top 50 assists. If we go with the same approach next season then he has to find players who can create and score more goals in that system.

Didn’t say I agreed entirely it’s the way he works Jonty just that I don’t think he will change it.

Like all managers he had his own style and like every approach it has its weaknesses. And some of those have become visible. Like all of us in our working lives, I think he has plateaued. He now needs to find a way to break through to the next level if he is going to be a higher level EFL gaffer.

I agree. In Proctor, Telford and Stockton we had 3 forwards who never broke into more than a trot. It used to drive me mad watching Spence killing himself and eventually tiring himself out by tearing from one side of the pitch to the other trying to put some pressure onto defenders while whichever 2 we had playing as strikers sauntered a few yards! Acquah was a bit better in closing defenders down but we were very poor in that respect.
