Club Statement: New Chairman - Paul Hornby

A point that hasn't been mentioned ( unless I've missed it ) is from the very first meeting in the forum 28 paul casson asked pleaded for the barrow public to come through the turnstiles and support the club , as everyone knows we have a hard core of 800 ish , yes he was aware of that BUT the crowds never regularly reached 1500 unless it was a big cup game or play off game the barrow public will only support a winning team and in my opinion let down the Cassons with a belief that oh we don't need to go and watch them we've got a millionaire behind us now even this season with a brand of football that is a joy to watch people still refuse to come and support the club they claim to love , it's not rocket science the more money through the gates equals bigger budgets for the the club / manager for wages , loan fees etc people keep saying we havnt got a commanding centre half , get your backsides to the games we would be able to go and get one!
Nobody knows how financially stable we will be once the ownership etc is ironed out , but I just hope we are in a position to move forward with the current manager and his vision for bafc long after this current season once the dust has settled again !
As barra fans we stick together and go again get right behind ian evatt and the lads and show in larger numbers we are always bluebirds grab your auntie , uncle ,brother , sister ,mate ,,mam and gran and turn up loud for our Football team .bring on Barnet. Always a bluebirds.

Unfortunately times have changed and a lot of people prefer to watch their football on screens of various sorts. They don’t realise or don’t care that the standard of football is much better and they get real atmosphere at HS, so we just have to keep spreading the word.

Will Paul Casson still own the ground in this deal or will that be passed over too? If he still owns it my opinion is we will be sharing with the rugby soon and he can then sell the land or develop it to recoup some of his money lost - can’t blame him really. We wont ever get 1500 fans every game so that is bad buisness on his side just picking a wild figure out of the air we always seem to float between 1000-1200. Also if he is the buisness man he claims why would you not wait till the end of the season why announce this now and porentially let us free fall not a fan

The shares and the assets including the ground will belong to the club and its directors.

Sorry Stu but I don't see how this works at all.

Paul Casson owns all the shares at the moment.

If he disposes of them to other people they will own the shares not necessarily the directors.

The club is the shareholders. directors aren't necessarily always shareholders.

It all needs clarifying and hopefully it will be today

We don’t want to take people away from the Q&A at the cross bar tonight so certainly any questions you want answered attend and ask them yourselves or get a friend to ask them

Trying to break this down for my own simple mind, I bought some shares in Royal mail. Those shares were bought as a financial investment, and they can go up or down in value. When I sell them I will either have made a profit, or more like likely, a loss.
In this case Royal mail are the company and I can do nothing to change anything unless I can get hold of 51% of the shares, which is technically possible, but in reality, it can't be done.

It seems to me that Barrow AFC could issue shares in much the same way as they did in the original set up. People will be encouraged to buy them to show their support for the club, but if they only buy a small number they will not have any influence - it’s just supporting the club.

I would think however that the directors will be asked to buy a much higher number of shares to entitle them to become directors, and because they have the most number of shares they will then determine the way forward for the club, as they will have the say.

We shall see.
