Had a craic with Ian (SO1990) before. Hes offered a fair explanation on how it all worked.

Genuinely do think hes given it the best shot to do all of this fairly. Hes does a lot of unnoticed stuff that is rarely if ever praised or noted. I think we all forget that he doesnt get much help on these things by the club.

Is that a thinly veiled apology for making a spectacle of yourself on this thread? Most people with an iota of sense thought it was fair, but you had to carry on and on moaning about it

I don't understand your point.
Are you saying that fans who drink in The Soccer Bar are NOT as loyal as the fans who drink in The Cross Bar?
Or have I misinterpreted your comment?
I wasn't saying that at all TTK, They will be loyal fans but I was referring to the people who were selected as Xbar regulars so drinking in the Soccer Bar obviously would exclude them from that list. Their freedom of choice and freedom of choice to select those who drink in the Xbar, especially when we were desperate for the income across the bar.
They may have qualified on other criteria but that is another matter.
Fair enough.

I'm a little disappointed that I can't attend the Football Focus event - I watch the programme every Saturday - but there's far more pressing concerns...like cheering the lads into an HISTORIC Fourth Round! So...C'MON!
Let's NOT all fall out over this.

REMEMBER. The MAIN EVENT takes place at 3.00pm. :scarf:

P.S. After the Football Focus screening will people still be able to have their pic taken with the FA Cup in The Cross Bar? And until what time?

Most people who were picked thought it was fair you mean?

You must have missed the part where fans have cancelled memberships over it. Turns out the NSC ballsed up massively and have lost members as a result.

My understanding of those that have left the NSC did so quite some time ago feeling somewhat disenfranchised with the direction it was heading.

Im hearing now that regular Corporate go-ers were asked on boxing day if they wanted to go but both declined.

I think SO1990 has been given the names but the "draws" (which were out of his hands) have been messed about with/didnt happen

Right, so now you're still saying it's unfair as people gave up memberships and only those selected thought the process was fair...but you've spoken to the club and think they've done it as fairly as possible...make your mind up

No.

Ive spoken to Ian and hes done it as fairly as he can. Its when the "draws" have been passed to other people/groups that its all gone North West Counties. People have declined invites. Which surely goes against the "draw" method.

If people who book corporate were asked if they wanted to attend then why was it left to draws to decide the rest?

Getting a few messages off people who don't post on here after being drowned out by the happy clappers. (Only me and Blue Nige left!)

Can we draw a line under this squabbling - or maybe organise a Boxing Competition?
The usual suspects would then be able to knock the s**t out of each other for a worthwhile Charity...
Then, maybe, we could get back to discussing Football.

The recent resignations from the NSC from myself, Steelworks End and at least one other that I know of were not directly related to the NSC Football Focus "draw". I can't even make the game this weekend due to a prior engagement so I am certainly not bothered one iota about being on tv.

The organisation and communication of how names were to be entered into an NSC "draw" has however seemingly just confirmed the recent issues over which members resigned.

All of the above has absolutely nothing to do with Ian Rainford's apportionment of places and random draws in which I think he has done an excellent job trying to be as fair to as many as possible and by the sounds of it has ended up with a good cross-section of people. I know the lengths he was going to in order to contact people over the New Year as he got hold of me on the off chance I might have someone's number (who had recently changed phones) and fortunately I did. In my opinion it should be a big "well done" to Ian for his efforts.

There may be some issues but they are not with how Ian has done this and he was very clear in his initial post how it was done. People will I am sure however still try to stir up something that is not there.

In my case I resigned last week, Mark, although I had been considering doing so for some time. I stayed on as a member as I was writing a series for the NSC membership on Barrow's Football League promotion season fifty years ago and I wanted to see this through to completion as it was something that I had promised to do. This has now been completed.

The main reason behind my decision to resign was the way the NSC forty years celebrations were organised, with only the founder members being considered worthy of an invite. By definition, this excluded the majority of the current membership, many of whom have served the NSC well over a great number of years, from any part in the celebrations. And the members weren't told anything about this in advance of the match concerned, apart from a brief mention at the 2015 AGM that inviting (not treating) the founder members was one option under consideration.

Moreover, I do not believe that entertaining these few members in Corporate Hospitality at Holker Street was a proper use of the club's funds - funds raised, remember, from ALL the NSC members.

The invites to Football Focus was a secondary issue, albeit an important one. I accept that there was only a short window to contact members, but this could easily have been achieved by using the email database used for sending out the newsletter. Instead, a post was made on an obscure Facebook page which few members will know about because the NSC has never publicised it.

These are my own reasons; I can't comment on why other members have resigned but I suspect it would be on similar grounds.

For the record, I have no complaints over the way Ian Rainford handled the Football Focus allocations on behalf of Barrow AFC.
