Felt compelled to register having read some of the comments here.

Newport were in a pretty similar position to Barrow when we were promoted. Traditionally small club, looking to grow, unfashionable, etc.

For the first few seasons we survived by the skin of our teeth, but then we managed a few cup runs aided by starting in the first round, and then we slowly built up a decent squad which can compete well at this level.

Just support your boys through all the shit you're going through at the moment, do your bit to make sure you survive, and the better times will come further down the road.

Haven't seen the game yet, but according to Cooper we went to a back 4 in the second half. After that we scored one and didn't concede again.

I rest my case ! this system is much better for us 3 at the back people think this makes us more solid it doesn't if you come under pressure because all it does is to cause indecision amongst the 3 central defenders because if teams only play with say 1 up front the players often leave it for each other then at set pieces (where we often concede goals) you can see our defenders often leave a player unmarked or one of them will not challenge because they think the other defender will challenge but we have nobody in our defence at present to communicate and sort out whose marking who,until we do we should ditch this 3 at the back!

Last time I saw Barrow play Newport (1965 I think), we lined up 2-3-5! It was simple in those days: two full backs marked 2 wingers, centre half marked centre forward, two wing halfs marked the inside forwards. Then Ramsey came up with the ‘wingless wonders’ and it has got more and more complicated since

I think some people on this forum.need a reality check.Listen to what the guy from Newport said about it taking his club a few seasons bumping around the bottom of the league before things became more settled and they were able to have a settled side and make a push for promotion.
Barrow AFC spent 48years out of the Football League and in one amazing season went on a fantastic run eventually gaining promotion.Then our manager left followed by two of our best players only to be replaced by two inadequate managers and if it hadn,t been for Rob Kelly agreeing to stay we would now be in the National League.
I agree that some of the organisation has been amateurish at times,but other promoted clubs kept their managers and most of their side together,something Barrow did not.
We as supporters have to be patient.It may take two more seasons before we start to make decent progress.You also have to remember that the club does not have a bottomless pit of cash and will never be able to compete with chairmen and owners who are pumping money into clubs which isn,t generated through their club receipts and presents a false landscape
I think we should stick with Mark.Cooper,because I think he will turn this club round.At times this team has played well and will eventually come good.

I think once teams lead against us they just let us pass it around and dominate possession knowing we have no final product.

Great post totally agree we need stability and the same back room all the way through closed reason we need training sorted for all preseason and someone with league experience to be CEO in imho which wont be cheap

It's not a claim, it's an opinion. If I look at the current NL now, I reckon any of the top 9 could make a decent show in EFL 2. Newport were very average and they are third!

Load a crap. The standard 'overall' in EFL2 is far better than the national league.

Things are shite at the minute, and I'm not particularly happy with the management side of things but I'm really not sure what changing it would achieve. It'll be a repeat of last season, stumble over the line (if we actually manage that) and start again in the summer. Harrogate and Sutton had momentum and continuity when promoted which is exactly what we needed but was taken away from us for various reasons. We don't have the momentum but we can at least try and make what we have work otherwise we will never get anywhere.
