Scaffolding has now gone up on the East end of the main stand ready for shot blasting & spraying. The middle section and some other areas such as support columns underneath the stand & some H bars at the back of the stand will be done later in the season when a break in games allows the work to be done.

Grit basting to Swedish Standard SA 2 1/2? Don't forget to check humidity and dew point limits before proceeding and get the first coat on within the Hour, like. Otherwise, not a classic job to last. No Cowboy outfit.

Actually, I said "shot blasting" but I think that is the old fashioned method and either illegal or not used anymore, so something like "grit blasting" could be the right terminology now.

Either way, it'll be a nice shiny blue when finished.

The ground has suddenly sprouted all sorts of staging/scaffolding and platforms.....

Big platform and commentary box (I guess) gone on top of the main stand, two platforms on each 18yd line (pop side) and one scaffold tower on the HSE. Got some cracking views of the ground and surrounding area from up there (not sure how to post them on here though)
I've been told there will be 60 (sixty!!!) camera crew/security and various officials here on Saturday morning.

Will those platforms be blocking any views from the Pop Side Ian?

Unfortunately yes Dave. I think the club have (or will be) mentioning this on their FB page, or the club website just to forewarn people that some areas will have restricted views.

TBH I don't think it'll be TOO much of an inconvenience, the one on the HSE is right at the back so that's fine anyway.

60? That is ridiculous. Do they know how many attend our games? We are non league not some League Premiership outfit. Half our fans will still be in bed at kick off time expecting the usual 3pm kick off.

Next Friday has been set as the final deadline for quotes for installation of the floodlights this summer. After that the three quotes will be sent to the Football Foundation.

The work is expected to take 5-6 weeks and will begin immediately after the final home game of the season.

Gareth's pitch work will be cleared to start halfway through the project and should be ready as usual in time for the first pre-season friendly home game.

I may have missed something on the subject. What role does the Football Foundation play in all of this? Is there the possibility of gaining a grant via the organisation?

Not really my area but I think that's where the grants come from. I'll try and find out.

How's this for a quickness that even a former member of this forum would be happy with?

Its a charity funded by the Premier League to grow grassroots football. The specific grant we have access to is the Football Stadium Improvement Fund. Basically it's a program where the clubs receive the funds once they have been completed and paid for.
