His last knockout win was probably when Wukkinton knocked us out of the Trophy at Holker Street. Mind, he got Wukkinton to the Trophy quarter finals..can't recall whether that was a different season.Bluebird_john wrote:Quite the opposite to a dressing room lock down, the players were leaving the ground in their cars 10 minutes after the fans had left the ground.
Edmo record for knockout games:
P4:
W:0
D:0
L:4
Goals scored:0
Goals conceded: 7
Shows he can't get them pumped for must wins, they were all over us even before the red. No excuses!

Re: The Darren Edmondson Thread
Edmo is neither inspirational nor I suspect passionate in the way he prepares his teams. Therefore Edmo will NEVER be the manager of a great little cup team. I truly believe that there is something in Edmos make up that doesn't totally get this Barrovian obsession with Cup competitions. Bayliss and Shez did get it and were those things and did get teams to produce those types of performance. I'm not for one moment harking back to the "good ol' days" just stating the obvious.
Never had any doubt that we'd lose Saturday and felt sorry that so many travelled to see what I thought was already obvious having watched some of the shambolic away performances this season. Edmo teams are capable of playing with grit and determination but not really with flair or passion. And there is only ever Plan A. If we'd have ground out a draw and Plan A had worked I suspect we'd be glossing over the negativity of the performance. In this respect Edmo might well be cursing his luck with the sending off and the injuries. That's not the point. Its what didn't happen afterwards - no attempt to adjust to a changing set of circumstances, no Plan B. He just doesn't know how to change it. A "one trick pony". The same could be said of last season, the difference being that we'd have more quality on the bench and tend to outlast the opposition. The opposition is however better this season with obvious consequences.
One plea though. Lets draw the line when it comes to the "we're doomed" comments. We're clearly better than that even if it feels sometimes that we are not. Like Bayliss, Edmo has had his own chapter in our history and not all of it (or even most of it) is bad. It will end sometime - though I suspect not as soon as some want. The Owner will be consistent and scrupulously fair and Edmo himself is not in any way dislikeable. I'd be surprised therefore if he loses the dressing room whatever rumblings people pick up. Unless results deteriorate rapidly I think we'll have him until the end of the season.
In the meantime my primary desire is to see us in the Conference National next season. I would swop that for a cup run any day because I've had the luxury of games against Premiership sides in my time and my obsession - if that's what it is - is to see us in League 2. If this means putting up with mediocre football for a period whilst we "consolidate" so be it. I am struggling to see my cup as half full rather than half empty at the moment but we've been here many times before. Time to grit the teeth.

Re: The Darren Edmondson Threadll
If I was a full time manager id have a big booklet before each game which literally had a plan of what to do if each player got sent off.
You cant just go out there and have no plan B.

We're not doomed but I feel that we will not get any higher than bouncing around mid-table (and more time bouncing around the bottom 3) with our current management set-up and mind-set. If the changing room is not solid btw, the captain has to take a fair share of responsibilty. Where are the McNultys (yes, I know it's Tranmere), Humes and (as I was reminded after a few beers on Saturday thankyewverymuch Mr Story) Jonahs?
I have not been impressed with a captain for ages (don't [SwearFilter] get me started on Bellend).
We need a change, we need it now and we need it to show some ambition.

Re: The Darren Edmondson Thread
Wouldn't have thought a booklet would be needed, I really would expect any half decent manager to know instinctively what shape, tactics etc to adopt after any sending off but that's a part of the problem with Edmo, he's too rigid, he seems incapable of adapting to different situations. So there is no plan b or even c, it's 1 way and 1 way only. Probably why it's boring to watch, everyone knows what's coming, nothing new, no excitement

Is Jonah still involved in the game in any capacity? Edmo got a month according to Mr Casson, takes serious balls to say that after he said he be here for the next 10 years.
