When the dust settles how about a D&D banner for posterity? I think they've earned it and now is the time to bury the hatchet(s), give credit where it's due and move on.
Banner anyone...next to Ray Wilkie's? I'm good for a tenner...

Wonder what tipped the balance for it to happen now?

don't like him, don't hate him because I don't know him, but I am glad the decision has finally been made. Cannot forget the success but that was with his sidekick and now on his own it has not worked out. A shame it has been left to get this far where relationships between fans and Bayliss had gone bad, but the BOD are to blame, they should have got rid at the end of last season.
It may not be enough but I hope all the stay away fans now come back to Holker Street and let's get behind the team and whoever the new manager may be, Meechan or otherwise (preferably otherwise). There are still obviously big problems at the club I.e finances, but let's support the club whilst we still have one, you never know when that will disappear too.
Thanks Dave and good luck.

I think for the future of the club it's good that Bayliss has gone. I'm sad that it didn't work out for us and Bayles, he clearly had the best of intentions.
Good luck for the future, we'll remember the good times!

It's funny when what should have happened a while back finally does come to pass so to speak. I feel a bit sad as a man who obviously was very passionate for the club loses his job but, in my opinion, the warning signs were there the season before last after Sheridan had been dismissed when we went on that terrrible run towards the end of the season. I felt he should have gone then because it seemed quite obvious to me at least that Bayliss & Sheridan as a team worked very well for Barrow but Dave more than struggled after that. I also have a gut feeling that maybe just maybe we'd still be in the Conference premier as we now have one hell of a fight not only to survive in our present division this season but to get back to where I feel we should be - the conference premier - if this decision had been made earlier.
My lasting memory of Bayliss is not just the good times at Wembley etc but his undoubted passion for the club - remember when he came on the pitch after a game against Nuneaton to confront that left back who nearly killed our winger that day. I believe Keen sent him off to an anger management course. Can't ever accuse the man for not being passionate.
So good luck Dave for the future but like many others it really should heve happened a while back.
Wish list - is it possible to have a manager who will try to play a settled team - then we just might be able to make a bit of progress - I hope

Probably just as well we're not! Couldn't afford to stay there any longer.

In a way I’m sorry to see Dave Bayliss go; in a way I’m glad because the future of Barrow AFC is of paramount importance and the way things were going this season had to be changed.
There is no doubt that Dave had a real passion for the club, and whilst that passion brought us some great days out, unfortunately it couldn’t be converted into success on the field.
Yes, we had our moments; one of his first games in charge (as caretaker manager with Darren Sheridan & Paul Jones) saw us coming very close to victory at Bournemouth, both in normal and than extra time. Then at the end of that season an unforgettable night at Burton when promotion through the play-offs was won. Beating Oxford in our first game on returning to the Conference Premier, the days out at Middlesbrough and Sunderland, and of course Wembley when phrases such as “Barrovian Bedlam” and “upsetting the applecart” became part of our folklore. They will all love for many years in our memories.
Unfortunately, however, we were unable to compete where it matters, in the Conference with a limited budget against the big-money clubs, and the last couple of seasons have been a struggle.
It is probably for the best that we part company now, but I do hope that Dave will be long remembered at Holker Street for all the positives, and I wish him all the best for the future.

Considering the paper is printed by 9.00am in Carlisle and is usually in Barrow by 11ish there wasn't a hope in hell it would make tonight's back page.

It's incredibly sad that it's ended like this, but the change had to be made and should have happened a long time ago.
I think and certainly hope that once the dust settles we'll remember Dave Bayliss for all the fantastic times we had during his involvement with the club. As many others have said, I've never disliked Bayliss or had any doubt as to how much he cared and I think that's partly what has made it such a difficult situation. But for the good of everyone it had to happen, and I'm glad the right decision has now finally been made.
The worst thing we could now do in my opinion is appoint Alex Meechan, and it worried me when Brian Keen mentioned that as a possibility on the radio. I'm not sure who my choice would be as yet, but it needs to be someone from outside the current set up.

Thank you for all the wonderful memories Dave, and I hope to see you back at Holker St with another team in the near future, after you've had a rest.
It was the right time at the end of last season IMO, but it was passion, effort and a genuine wish to turn it round kept you in it I guess. It all went very sour at the end, but there will be many, many days where we will look back with delight on what you did.
All the best.
