Don't know whether it's the case with the recent incident but on at least one occasion in the past it was held at half time because nobody in the club bothered to tell the PA announcer that there was going to be any sort of tribute at all!

You won’t be best pleased with me then to learn that I overtook a funeral cortege in 1985. I just saw slow moving cars in front of me so when the road opened up I went past the lot. Getting past the last few cars I realised what I’d done and the hearse driver shot me a look which still makes me cringe to this day.
The horror, the horror.

In a hurry, he was
With places to be
In the traffic so busy
So when he could see
An opening clear
To bypass the lot
He planted his foot
And forward he shot
Swinging out past the grannies
The learners and worse
Only too late
To notice the Hearse
Alas
