Chris,

You have a valid point re MOTM and this is something I'll be talking to Steve Casson about.

As for players being isolated, all we've done is provide a space where the players can relax with their families. Players can and still do go into the bar. We've not banned that.

As for kids and autographs, we actively encourage this, and have had autograph cards printed for kids to collect signatures on. The players entrance is usually packed with kids at full time, all clamouring for a signature!

Players dont even come in the home bar after matches and we have no MOM award.

Thats fine if you think thats ok but i remember when i was a lad being able to meet my heros playing for barrow after matches.

Just because we have money doesnt mean we have to become arseholes.

Wilson being subbed today "about time" our own players being booed after a bad pass.

Try and cover up but the popular side today was embarassing half a seasson barely gone and we expect to play like real madrid.

Im entitled to my opinions but im not alone.

Have seen about 50% of games at HS this season and as far as I can see only Chorley and Guiseley have come to play. The rest come to spoil. I've said before that this squad would be allowed to play better more expansive and faster-flowing football in the division above. Currently, it's not a great spectacle and will actually get worse if teams increasingly think that playing negatively is the only way to play when we're at home.

On the other hand we've not lost a game when we've scored first and have confidence in a very strong centre-half pairing. We've also not lost a game where we've been on level terms at half-time. Statistically the game v Stalybridge was therefore virtually over after the early goal. Unfortunate that the rest was drivel but the job was done. This squad don't seem to be that motivated when they don't have to be. If they play the same next week they'll get a hiding. But Bradford PA aside - where the main sin was complacency - they've as yet always matched their game to the opposition they've faced.

Have to say the quality of the away games is better largely because the home team generally tries to compete. And as the stats show they get greater reward when they do so. For the most part therefore, HS is likely to be a rather sterile environment this season - though I'm sure upcoming games v Boston, Harrogate, Fylde and Stockport will be much more competitive. Frankly I'd take a scabby 1-0 against all of them.

The truth is the atmosphere at away games is better because every fan is passionate and drunk

With regards to the queues in the crossbar, I know there's not alot you can do with there only being three(?) pumps at the bar and limited space, but would it be beyond the realms of possibility to have a little bottle/can bar round the corner with just a fridge and a till, so if people are wanting pints they can queue up for the main bar but if they're just wanting to get a bottle or can of pop etc they can go there, would certainly speed things up and increase takings, especially at Half Time when alot of people probably only want to get a quick bottle of beer but have to queue up for 10 minutes to get one!

What we need to remember here is that is as a club and a town, we are quite a negative bunch, call it what you want....socio-economics....breading....experience. But we are on the whole very negative (perhaps me included). Having read this forum often from a distance it amazes me how negative it is... Even when things are going well, this just would not happen at others clubs! Now this can can all be veiled under that guise of; ' this is a public forum and I can express my opinions and say what I want' of course you can.....but the key question that people never seem to be able to ask themselves in today's society is....should you???

Would our club be in a better position if we were all unfailingly positive??? Maybe, possibly....one thing is for certain is that it wouldn't be in a worse position. Maybe this is too much to ask and I've probably read the alchemist too many times but, I know for a fact that things are probably in better shape at the club than they have been for a long time. Let's allow ourselves to enjoy this....we don't have to punish ourselves with constant negativity? But will we choose to?

To ease the burden you can get some cracking 500ml bottled real ales nowadays too don't need over chilling so could be moved from the cellar to the back of the bar prior to the masses arriving, quicker and easier to take a bottle top off than pull a pint. How about It, ready for the next home game and the Christmas rush guys, girls????

Kieran wrote:Enjoy it? How can we? The players don't come in the bar anymore so we no longer get an insincere "cheers lads" from them when they're on their way out, and the atmosphere is seemingly worse than it was when there were only 700 turning up 12 months ago.

Lets get a grip eh.
Kieran it's not that much better, and there is too much moaning, which I am err, now moaning about on here.

Some of the craic coming off the terraces was ridiculous yesterday.

Players & Autographs: They only ever sat in the corner on their own anyway, most of them - I saw plenty of kids yesterday waiting for autographs in the Crossbar entrance though (upstairs and dow)

I'm not sure he can do much about the atmosphere - people have high expectations. Previously any win was enjoyable because we only got a handful of them a year - now I guess people are expecting wins so only get excited about the annoying or spectacular. A shame, but the same at any club.

And while we're talking about things that haven't changed for the better, can we talk about your beard? :sentoff:

Any disgruntled pop siders come and give the main stand a go. The Main Stand is the place to be.

Boston game- ideal trial out.
