I don't often get the chance to listen to the commentary but I have the last two Saturday's and I must admit I had to laugh a couple of times this afternoon, following some of Andy Woods comments, to say they're a bit near the bone in this PC world we live in is a slight understatement but never the less highly entertaining.

He said Bogle had called Paddy Lacey after a foul I quote " a dirty northern something" and then he made a comment later on "words you wouldn't hear from someone who lived on a council estate"

Must admit I heard those remarks too and they did surprise me as well. Not what you expect to hear on good old Auntie - local radio or not!

Second half was shit. Predictable, one dimensional shit.

They were ten foot tall, why did we spend the entire second half giving their number five heading practice? Even cook couldnt beat him in the air, that was apparent after about ten minutes so why persist with it? Desperately lacking in imagination, cohesion and width.

What a missed opportunity. What was up with Grand for their third too? Just completely pulled up and let their player run on through and score.

Beaten by a better side, who knew how to score- end of. Very dissapointing with the challengers all losing, or was it a 'get out of jail free' card? Got to say though, as good as Bogle is, how many times did he get in the refs and liners faces without a card??

On paper we have a strong squad but once again team selection is poor.
We have the slowest midfield in this league nearly every team outfight us there,how Lacey is ever in first 16 selections baffles me.
I don't think we have a game plan at all no width and no backing one another up,just lump it onto the head of visiting defenders especially if they are 6'5"
We seem to fall away as soon as we don't score even if we are dominating play.
We also lack IMO a leader on the field and definitely a leader on the sidelines who can see the deficiencies and try to make some amends.
Didn't deserve anything from todays game at all...............too many bad days at the office for me lately

John Goodwin's comment that at half time "I went to splash my boots" was pretty good but the council estate comment is just a bit condescending, isn't it?

Beaten by the better side. No doubt about it. Bogle was a real handful.

The only good thing about today was the teams around us didn't do any better.

Very disappointing with Fylde losing, that might just give them a boost whereas if we win the pressure was really going to be on them...especially as they have a very hard game on Tuesday.
I think it's a very fair point for people who go week-in-week-out to ask why we persist in lumping it forward when we are quite clearly not going to win anything in the air against some of these teams, even more so today - that was a huge back four they had and not once did they really look like them high balls bothered them!

It was a shame because right up till they scored I thought we looked really comfortable but we never got going again after their first goal. As others have mentioned, I can't for the life of me see what Paddy offers over some of the others we have available. That's not his fault though, he gets picked and he does his best but I'm struggling to see the reason why Edmo persists with picking him.

Massive opportunity missed today for us but more worrying is with the way things have gone the last few weeks with Fylde on a dodgy run and us today losing, that has just drawn a lot of other teams into the automatic promotion reckoning, they'll now believe they have a chance as well.

Quite a poor attendance again, decent mini run we've been on, good weather, top of the table but we end up with below 1200!

1st half Barrow dominated the game. To go in front with the first goal of the game from the penalty spot is always precarious. No matter which way you look at it, it has been given to you, you did not earn it and it can create a false sence of security which I think happened today. Walker took his penalty well for 1-0. Solihull made a few chances and Taylor parried one effort into the path of an oncoming striker only for him to head wide from close range. It was offside but it showed how dangerous Solihull were. After constant pressure from Barrow and the occasional break away from Solihull, Solihull got a penalty as well and made it 1-1. At 1-1 Cook missed a guilt edged chance through on goal but missed. The Solihull keeper was very dodgy and was failing to handle even tame shots very well. The Solihull's/leagues top scorer Bogle added his second for a 1-2 half time score. From the left it seemed to take an age to go across the area and in at the far post. The question has to be asked how much space did he have to play such a pass into the net? Will have to see the highlights for that one.

In the 2nd Barrow were appallingly bad. Some nice passing in the middle but too slow and closed down by a Solihull did not give them the space they had in the 1st. They played a very high line keeping Barrow away from the Solihull keeper who had been barely adequate in the 1st. Sadly their tactics worked and Barrow didn't have an answer at all. Then it got worse Grand dropped to the ground (Post match it was said he turned his ankle) with no one near him. The Solihull No8 which he had been marking was left with a clear run on goal from the halfway line, no one closed him down until it was far too late. You would expect with a 1 on 1 to get a goal and Taylor was easily beaten for 3-1 to Solihull. The much awaited return of Pilkington flopped as he had no impact at all with only his first run out since his injury. However he replaced Howarth a constant threat instead of... Take your pick 1 to 10, i'd have dropped Guy as he didn't contribute very much at all. I recall one shot the Solihull keeper dropped through his legs and got away with not putting it in his own net, closest Barrow came in the 2nd. It took till added time for the next shot on (or off) target when Lacey hit a long range effort. You can't win a game if you don't shoot.

Solihull deserved the win in the end, Barrow's 1st half performance not enough to deserve anything with lots of hopeful shots and glaring misses. Failing to test a dodgy keeper with the sun in his eyes the 2nd unforgivable. It has to be mentioned, I thought the teams workrate and effort was well below par today. We've witnessed teams at Holker St plugging away trying to get something despite losing by several goals. At 3-1 the team just seemed to give up until the double substitution of Carver and Sheridan and the shear effort of Carver trying to make a difference seemed the only spark of life. Body language said a lot today, champions not.

Not much wind today and a chance to play football; but we didn't.very poor all round.missed a great chance with Fylde loosing as well.anyone no wot Lacey does?cause I don't.think it'll go to the wire and hopefully this is our worst performance out the way.need to go on another run again; starting next week

Midfield again let us down. Like others , Lacey doesn't seem to bring anything to the party and unfortunately today he saw most of the ball and his sideways passes with burns and then backwards again just added to the overall lack of ideas.
Guy wasn't up much either and we just ran out of ideas and no plan b.

Shezza back in for me and maybe Cowps at fullback in place of burns , upfront rest walker and bring carver up with cookie. We look a tired team void of ideas and the best side won Today

Huge chance blown today

First half I thought we were bright and lively and even at 2-1 felt we could get something from the game but the second half was a massive disappointment.
I assume due to the goals he's scored that Bogle usually plays up front, if so It would suggest he was moved to the left to play against our weakest defender Burns,if definitely worked for them. Its also apparent that the 2 outfield players on Conference north level wages are the 2 weakest players in the team. Lacey wouldn't get in my team for sure but he does seem to be targeted by some fans sometimes unfairly. I thought we were poor again in midfield. Ledsham was no better than Lacey. Guy started bright and showed some good touches in the first 15mins but quickly faded out of the game and became anonymous. I was surprised when Edmo substituted Howarth who was our most creative player in the second half and left Guy on the pitch. The Cook miss in the first half was a key moment, the bizarre substitution in the second was another. We were losing the aerial battle with the No5 and the option of 2 wingers was available instead we removed Howarth and put Pilks in the center and went with 3 upfront which shunted Walker to the left. It seemed to take the wind out of our sails. The final key moment being the strange sight of seeing Grand go down injured, costing us the third goal and yet carrying back on !
Still with results going for us elsewhere, it looks like there will be plenty of twists and turns to come.

The worst thing about today is that solihull were nothing special, our defending was terrible allowing them too much space and backing off(which led to the second goal),burns needed help today and lewis guy didn`t help him out(how guy gets a game is beyond me he is just average with no pace).

in midfield we need someone to push us forward instead it goes across the pitch leaving the opposition to get players back.


up front cook and walker seem to be struggling to get any kind of understanding of what each other is doing!


someone mentioned the attendance well after watching that this afternoon who can blame people not coming it was borderline rubbish and the players need to have a long hard look at themselves!(as well as the management!)


it`s down to edmo now but the way we have played at home recently i don`t know if he knows his best team)or he does and is scared of making unpopular decisions,as shankly once said there`s no room for sentiment in football!

I think that could well be Fylde's blip over now.
We have had a chance to put a decent points gap there and blew it,psychologically as well.
The below 1200 gate is about right for this team that is so inconsistent at playing decent football at home.
Not having a go at Taylor but for Christs sake get some experience between the sticks,get McMillan back before its to late.
