It seems there is a bit of a confusion over what we're doing so I will attempt to explain. I'll preface my explanation by pointing out that between the Wrexham and Stockport games we had well over 1000 online tickets sold. That number plays a big part in why we are doing what we are doing!
We wanted to come up with as simple a plan as possible to handle this in as little time as possible. There is always the chance no one will be able to access the club in a few days so we wanted to get this done ASAP.
We decided to keep it clean and simple with two options, either a full refund with the tickets cancelled, or a donation of the money to the club with the tickets still valid for the re-arranged game (if and when it is played).
In our view, supporters who have not requested a refund have still paid for a ticket, so there is no reason not to keep these tickets valid for the re-arranged game. Supporters would be welcome to buy another ticket when the game is played if they wish.
In regards to us sending the donated money to the Trust, we aren't doing this for a few reasons but in essence it is because any funds that we moved to the Trust would only be moved back to the club in the end anyway. In addition:
- The money from online ticket sales is paid to us daily, meaning all of the sales income from these two games has already been passed on to us and a lot of it will have already been ring-fenced for something. To simply "write off" the donated ticket value and not have to worry about it is far easier for us.
- With the transaction fees etc from moving the money over to the Trust and the Trust then moving it back, any financial benefit of doing so is negated.
- As I mentioned, we wanted to keep this process as simple as possible and having just the two straight options has proved extremely effective and easy. Every single ticket holder for these two games has already been contacted and we've heard back from around 70% of them, meaning we can move on to something else soon enough.
I hope this helps clear things up, it's slightly longer than I expected but it's helped pass ten minutes with no football, so that's something
