Have to say I do love this forum

When we lose - multiple pages stating that the team is poor

When we win - multiple pages about our commentary

I’ll happily declare myself the worst commentator in the world if it means we stay up this season

Don't forget a post about the pitch being frozen over when we've had -3 most of the week so how can it be frozen

They irritate me too, far too much telling us what we can see but I think ifollow commentary is for radio too. I listen in silence

You do realise that they are Radio Cumbria commentators not Ifollow commentators - ifollow simply use the radio feed . Radio commentators are there to describe the game for people who are not watching (ie radio listeners).

So you can’t really criticise them for doing what they are paid to do

Barrovians love a whinge

As other have said, We are very lucky to get the coverage we do & blessed having very good local & Barrow fans commentating on our games.

John G Says it how he see’s it & that helps to paint the picture for the Radio listeners, **Back to square 1** & Imho does a great job as does Adam our rising star & their styles compliment each other.

I would include Matt Ryder who gets brought in as cover another fan who is great behind the mic.

Let’s try and be more positive eh!

We won, moved up the table, Kept a clean sheet, Leapfrogged a rival, New gaffer, New signing made a solid debut, JJ back and building a partnership with Platty ( Which could develop into something special)
Signings incoming, 6th in the 5 game form charts with 10/15 points.......I’m over the moon with this recent form & the green shoots of recovery are a little bigger today.

Just shows how much opinions vary..I think Goodwin says it as I see it.when the players play crap he says so and states in his opinion why and offers preferred option which most times I agree with.When and there have not been too many times this season any good move or decisive pass is seen he comments on it.Also quite rightly comments on how “clever” Quigley is for example acknowledging what a good awkward to play striker he is but mentions what I have seen often how he grabs someone tight to him and rolls them and throws himself at ground too much.As for Kay no one can deny he one of our best players but let’s himself down with indiscipline which is plain to see and is commented on.I support the team totally but am not blind to the many faults we have.He praises and damns equally.Its called constructive criticism.If it irritates you turn volume off .

I think this sums it up perfectly.

If there were no constructive criticisms of a side near the bottom of the table, it would be very strange indeed. Commentators, not cheerleaders

I dread to think what some of our more critical posters would have made of former AFC commentator Ron Duxbury. You got one terse and monotone observation from Ron every five minutes or so and that was your lot.

I don't always agree with what is opinionated during the commentary but it certainly doesn't annoy me. One thing that is clear is that their opinions are driven by wanting the best for the club...

That for me is the key point - - - sometimes the criticism can be borne of wanting the team to do well so John Goodwin is fine as far as I'm concerned. We all know Adam is totally behind the club and the team but I certainly don't sense any anti-Barrow agenda from John Goodwin. Yes, there's a need to try and get the balance right but I can't say I've found JG too much to bear when it comes to offering criticism. And to redress the balance, I was pleased yesterday that he picked out Connor Brown for a special mention as one of our players of the season, given that Brown was replaced by the new guy (who played well) despite doing well himself in most games this season. To me, that was John Goodwin offering much merited praise for a player sidelined for yesterday's game. Well done for not forgetting Brown's contribution.

I think we also have to be able to laugh at ourselves a bit (if you can't do that it's very hard being a Barrow fan year after year after year). Some might not have liked it but that bit when he followed up the remark that both teams were playing chess, moving around and cagily waiting for a space to open up, by adding "the trouble is our pieces don't know where to go" was wickedly amusing and broke a bit of tension for me.

I have to say that back in the day it was Andy Wood who bugged me; of course it was sound only then and there were several occasions when Barrow scored that his voice was so flat and passionless that when he said we had scored I assumed he was about to add that the flag had gone up and it had been ruled out, such was the lack of life in his voice. If listening only, without the benefit of pictures, there is never any danger with Adam of not being instantly aware that we have scored!

I like Blackburn and keep an eye on their results but wouldn’t say I lose any sleep if they don’t get a good result - Barrow is my true passion.

I’ve got a lot of time and respect for Andy - he offered me a lot of advice when I first started up and had a good friendship with him in the press boxes when I travelled on my own accord to cover games for radio Lonsdale - in fact it was him who put me forward for the barrow job at RC - a good commentator that I think got a lot of unfair criticism

I thought it was decided by a toss of that two headed coin John Goodwin has. Always decided at the start of a season, Boydy still calls tails and is yet to work it all out. It’s an old Holker ploy they always used to make sure they played down the slope second half, allegedly!
