If supporting your club and checking out rumours is being a tit I admit it.Having followed Barrow through thick and thin since the 1960,s with all that happened when Vaughan was in charge the last thing I want is for this club to into a downward spiral due to events off the pitch. It is called being passionate about your club and rumours should be put to bed before they get out of hand.
Once a Barrow supporter always a Barrow supporter. :scarf: :scarf: :scarf:
Fair point about Evatt but Newport is hardly as attractive a suitor as Bolton.

Just out of interest, whom did you hope might have been at the club when you rang who might have been in a position to give an informed response to your question?

I rang on the off chance somebody at the club would know. You probably think I am naive but after what happened last season is it any surprise I don,t want our club to falter yet again.
I think it is about time all these behind the scenes moves were brought under employment law where people have to inform their club of their intention to leave and work an agreed period of notice as happens in industry, otherwise they lose any payment that was agreed between both parties.
Of course this will never happen in football as there are two many agents in the background who have never kicked a football and are only interested in making money at the expense of the future viability of most EFL clubs, the result of which is the situation you have today where most of these clubs are heavily in debt.

With you 100% on that. If you applied the same professional legal standards to finance or manufacturing our economy would collapse. But its a systemic issue. All parties to football contracts in effect collude to give themselves leeway to interpret any clause to their own advantage whilst seeking to deny that to others. Its a very primitive retrospective system by modern day standards. The legal framework around football serves essentially to establish that employers and employees can meet the basic legal requirements to conform to employment law (go to work, be paid etc.). Beyond that its a bit of a lottery.

If you look at the rules and regulations of the FA, the EFL or the Premiership you will see the same lack of precision or definition. Issues that arise with them often get painted as the product of incompetence but actually it takes a great deal of time and effort to make regulations so slack that anything can be re-interpreted according to whatever a governing majority wants at any particular point.

Totally agree, but something is going to have to be done, before the whole system collapses like pack of cards and we can only watch football on a pay to view basis as there will be no local sides left.

As if someone at the club would tell you anything based on a rumour some guy in a b and b in wales said to a Barrow fan. Managers come and go, one minute they are the best thing ever then next minute fans want them out. Lose the next 10 games you would all want rid, win the next 10 you start shitting yourself hes about to leave...

We have a inferiority complex at Barrow, nobody wants to come it's too far away, the towns a dump, the high street is rubbish, the match will be off it's going to rain .. constant doom and gloom

No need to ask receptionists or ticket sellers now
The man himself has tonight rubbished the rumours

Well said Adam.I was hoping eventually you would debunk it and I am glad you did as I want to see our club move forward.I think that Mark Cooper is exactly the right person this club needs and will want to stick with us through thick and thin. The one thing our club needs is stability and I think as long as Mark Cooper is prepared to stake his future with us our future is assured.

Exactly Bingo. I’m a bit disappointed you missed off the cheese and onion pie disaster -it had to be thrown away!

Thanks Adam for asking what was a rather delicate question.

I think the words "I'm not going to Newport" are about as definitive as you could expect. To be honest if you take away the rumour as posted on the forum, together with the bookmakers references from which this probably spread then it doesn't leave much left that was particularly credible though its impossible to know for sure.

As you pointed out in your interview, its always good for any manager to hear that his name is continuing to be used in connection with these positions as it to some extent re-enforces the view that he is doing a decent enough job and I think that even after just 4 months his development of the squad has begun to get noticed not just by TV pundits but by his peers - other managers. We are even getting some decent reviews on other forums.

Even so, it should serve to remind us that Mark Cooper is a very marketable commodity and from his own words previously still has ambitions to manage at a higher level, and I'm not talking just about League 1. There cant be many at the club who would not be mindful of the fact that, despite a three year contract, should MC continue to develop BAFC to the point whereby we become real contenders, then chances are that decent opportunities will inevitably present themselves. So lets not kid ourselves that MC is forever. Hopefully however, this particular one can now be put to bed.

A difficult subject face to face with Cooper, and I thought Adam dealt with it in a very skilful and non-confrontational manner. Most of us who have history with the club, and are watching what is happening just now feel delighted that he is in charge. In my view a very decent, straightforward and talented manager. I thought it was magnanimous of him to say that he owes the players because of how they have been with him. If we win big style he'll be off like Evatt, and couldn't blame him. In the meantime let's hope that we get to that position and enjoy and embrace the ride.
