Re: Targets For January
We miss the tenacity of Tom White(Quote Jonty), not according to Mark Cooper White not started any of the last 6 league games last full 90mins v Port Vale away when we didn`t play game second half, maybe it was White`s fault in Cooper`s mind.

Re: Targets For January
To be fair other strikers who played - Kay and Sea - also went ghee in. As far as I know they are still at the club.saltcellar wrote: ↑Thu Nov 25, 2021 4:55 pmWe did but it was the rest of the team, not the strikers scoring goals.
Maybe they are to blame now not Zanzala and Gordon.
I’m not convinced it’s personnel. The same players fought like lions at Bradford were then timid as mice at Carlisle.
Zanzala got loads of stick from fans at the game at Carlisle and on this forum. He missed a simple chance which was very poor but other than that he had little or no service - that isn’t down to him.
Re: Targets For January
He missed plenty of chances, what good is it getting decent service if when he does he still can’t score. Best thing is to drop zanzala and try someone different up top with Gordon. Maybe Banks or StevensBingley Blue wrote: ↑Thu Nov 25, 2021 7:37 pmTo be fair other strikers who played - Kay and Sea - also went ghee in. Re: Targets For January
Ellis was to blame for both goals against Rochdale and at fault for other goals he's ok at heading but distribution and lack of pace are now finding him out ,Platt what's he done wrong?and if you know anything about football it'll take him about 6 games to get anywhere near to full match fitness/sharpness plus he's come back from a serious injuryDesmond2-2 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 25, 2021 7:05 pm Ellis is a top centre half, early season when we reached dizzy heights and were winning matches, he was a colossus at the back, maybe platt isn’t as good as some people think. We need forwards, with strength and powere.
Re: Targets For January
The bottom line to all this is we need to find a way and quickly.

Re: Targets For January
He's certainly not a top centre half. He's very, very slow and so scared of pace that he backs off from any attacker. He's good in the air as long as he's pplaying against small strikers but never won a ball in the air against the giant from Leyton Orient. Before we signed him he was on the way down from the EFL to the National League. Not in the same league as Platt! Since Platt came back instead of Ellis we've given 3 goals away in 3 games but scored zero. In the previous 4 games with Ellis playing we had given 8 away! However, you are absolutely correct in saying that the top priority are some decent strikers.Desmond2-2 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 25, 2021 7:05 pm Ellis is a top centre half, early season when we reached dizzy heights and were winning matches, he was a colossus at the back, maybe platt isn’t as good as some people think. Re: Targets For January
Ellis is shite. A new CB needed. A midfielder and a striker Also needed.
Luke James. Devitt on way out?

It’s obvious you lack any level of intelligence, but keep supporting the team, there’s a good lad.
Early season, every post match interview, Cooper praised Ellis performances. And Russel I though you had some football knowledge, against orient he won everything. Platts positional play, lack of communication and generally lack of football nouse is why Blackburn off loaded him.
Re: Targets For January
Ellis started the season well but has took a nose dive in recent weeks/months. His lack of pace and some dodgy decisions to not track strikers is the reason he’s been dropped. Platt is still young and he’s definitely our best all round defenderDesmond2-2 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 8:28 amIt’s obvious you lack any level of intelligence, but keep supporting the team, there’s a good lad.

Re: Targets For January
You must have forgotten your glasses when you watched the Orient match because both myself and my son commented on how little he won in the air against their big striker. Plenty of players offloaded by Championship teams are easily good enough for us. We generally sign players who have been offloaded by EFL2 and NL teams! Cooper has obviously decided Ellis isn't good enough now as he's stopped picking him. Neither Ellis nor Grayson could catch a cold. They are both slow and back off continually because they know if they man mark and get turned they are lost.Desmond2-2 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 8:28 amIt’s obvious you lack any level of intelligence, but keep supporting the team, there’s a good lad.

Re: Targets For January
Agree with you about Ellis. I also think James Jones falls into the tardy bracket as well. Platt head and shoulders above any other of our defenders (not that we have that many). On a different note our salvation (in the sense of avoiding relegation) will have to come from loanees. Players not currently getting game time. Wouldn’t be surprised if no one comes in on a contract. Cooper has been around a long time, so we can hope he knows the targets already. What we’d give for a Jimmy Dunne and a Ryan Yates in January, plus someone (or two) with goal scoring ability.russell_anderson wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 10:33 amYou must have forgotten your glasses when you watched the Orient match because both myself and my son commented on how little he won in the air against their big striker. Re: Targets For January
Paul Farman is good at shot stopping but in other areas weak ! but it could be down to playing behind a poor defence
