New Training ground - at De La Salle Sports & Social Club

Feel like some folks are expecting Barrow to have a training ground on a par with Liverpool or Chelsea. Has anyone ever seen where Rochdale, Hartlepool, Crawley Town, Walsall etc train? A decent pitch, working showers and a bit of privacy is all a team really needs. I'm sure the club will be making sure we have all three. If the location helps us attract players then all the better.

Nobody is expecting that at all. Can we meet half way and say it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect that the facility for a football league side would already include a FL standard pitch, all weather pitch, treatment room, somewhere for tactical discussion and analysis, ie video / classroom facilities, perhaps an adjoing gym for strength and conditioning work and somewhere they can all eat together etc. Great if these things are already there / planned but the article doesn't give any detail.

It might not be perfect now, but hopefully with investment it will be suitable for purpose - you have to start somewhere, we are just 3 years down the line from where we should have been

We do need to start somewhere but how much is it costing the club to be in this partnership? What’s the key driver here? Location- accessible, costs?,... what needs to be done development wise to support an EFL club? It could cost £££’s to get it up to what we want and if that the case why do that at a club in Salford and not one at home as per Brown’s argument? (Thinking longer term planning)

I can understand if we were investing at home in a partnership with a local club’s facility whilst continuing to hot desk it at an already established facility in the north west on a season by season basis. This doesn't seem to fit the hybrid training solution that PH was alluding to.

As Big E said we have to start somewhere and now hopefully we have.
As for training in Barrow do we not have a ready made place in Hawcoat Park? Some/little investment required in partnership with Hawcoat would be ideal for both parties. Me personally would train the 1st team at Holker so everyone is used to the wind

I just hope we`re not investing thousands of pounds on something that we don`t have control over , if it hasn`t got an all weather pitch what happens when the weather deteriorates ? and we can`t train , trying to be positive but we don`t want to be "back-engineering this ", I personally would have liked to move to a facility that doesn`t need investment etc as it`s never ending!,I honestly hope we`ve done our due diligence over this because it seems a bit "definately maybe"!

If we are going to spend thousands it needs to be at our own ground or at least in our home town, perhaps with a properly drafted partnership with Holker or Hawcoat Park.
Trouble with investing elsewhere, further down the road (pun intended), they could pull the plug and once again it's money wasted with someone else getting the benefit. I realise we have to pay rent but any money spent improving THEIR infrastructure is not good business.

Hawcoat Park is a not for profit facility IN OUR TOWN, so if we are going to invest it should be locally. Get the players to go into schools etc whilst they are in the town and get an affinity with the area that effectively pays their wages.

I think there is an article is from the Sunday Times about Barrow Soccer in the early 70s in the league. When the bus from a southern away game gets back to Barrow, there is hardly anyone on the bus.

My point is to ask, out of interest, where the team trained in 1970? Has this connection ever existed? How many times have we ever trained through the week in the town?

Trained on Asda car park at 1 pointin the early 80s, I would guess when the majority of the team were locals we trained in Barrow.

The team used to own several houses in the town when we were last inn the league and the players lived in the area.
