Thought the referee was dog sh*t, Mansfield players could gain 5 yards + when taking a throw in whereas we had the whistle blown if we tried, our player was through onto their goalie and brought down and Mansfield player only got a yellow. Never seen a full time whistle blown while we had the ball in their box with a potential opportunity. Frustrating game, we never have any lucky against them.

Scrappy game in the conditions and a scrappy goal to win it. Don't have any complaints tactically from either team, they defended well.

Two definite penalties disallowed again.Josh Gordon was consistently fouled by Mansfield and offered no protection by the referee.Then came the time wasting and lying down feigning injury by some of their players.The conditions today were terrible with the amount of the standing water on the pitch
We again got caught out by their set piece again.We need to maintain our defence when these are coming in.It seems to be our achilles heel at the moment.Now,s the time to concentrate on the league.

Fairly even game with a scrambled goal from a free kick/corner deciding who won. We had more than enough chances to win the game certainly far more than Mansfield. Ref let a bit go but I would really like to know when the strategic shove in the opponents back with both hands suddenly became allowable.
Shame about the weather having a spoiling effect on the football but the pitch held up remarkably well considering the amount of rain it has had.

Two or three really good chances….you simply HAVE to put one of them away.
Hiw that Mansfield player wasn’t red carded is totally baffling….last man and pulls back Gordon (?) then the other one where their player was virtually pulling the shirt off one of our players (missed who) but surely the ref or liner have to see things like that.
As frustrating as it is to watch, you can’t really fault Mansfield’s tactics, it’s worked for them twice against us and if the officials miss the penalty claims, the shirt pulling, the time wasting (we do it as well and it’s horrible to watch), the gaining ten yards on throw-ins etc then they’re obviously going to use it to their advantage.

Good to see Bennet back in contention because he seriously needs to be involved a lot more than Moyo in the coming weeks, I’m struggling to see what he does to earn his place, an honest player I suppose but well out of his depth and simply does not look like scoring.

Despite us having more possession and most chances, Mansfield’s holding tactics and dogged defending paid dividends for them again, resulting in the same 0-1 scoreline as our meeting five weeks ago.

Less than two minutes in a sharp shot from Waters was saved for a Kay corner. Two minutes later at the other end, Hewitt shot wide.

Quarter of an hour in, Kay tested Pym with a shot from the left corner of the area

In the 27th minute, Mansfield missed a good chance of taking the lead when they broke from a Barrow corner. Akins skied from close range following a cross from Maris.

However, an even better chance fell to Barrow six minutes later as Gordon won the ball from a defender and crossed to Kay whose close range header brought a great range save from Pym.

Hartigan was then booked for a foul on White, who earned Barrow’s man of the match.

In the 39th minute, Mansfield grabbed what would turn out to be the winner. The waterlogged pitch probably played a part as the ball was sticking around our goal. A foul by Water on Maris on the right 25 yards from goal gave the visitors a free kick, Maris’s free kick was played into the area and following a scramble for the ball, Hawkins poked it in the net.

Clarke and Wallace came on for Hartigan and Quinn at half time as Mansfield would spend the second half defending their lead, despite barrow throwing the kitchen sink at them.

Two minutes in, Kay crossed dangerously from the left right along the line but no-one could make contact with the speeding ball.

In the 63rd minute we made a triple change, Foley, Brough and Whitfield coming on for White, Kenlock and Waters. Bowery replaced Gordon for Mansfield.

Farman punched away a Maris shot three minutes later but the impetus was with Barrow who struggled to find a way through, Mansfield blocking every cross and shot.

A Kay shot was saved in the 68th minute and three minutes later Canavan shot wide from close range. Perch was booked for a foul on Foley in the 73rd minute and then, Bennett came on for Ray. Two minutes later, a Whitfield free kick was launched into the area but Gordon’s overhead kick went wide of the left post. Whitfield then blasted over the bar from a Warren cross.

Nwabuokei then replaced Neal and for the visitors O’Toole came on for McLaughlin.

With ten minutes remaining of normal time, Hewitt was booked for a foul on Gordon as we upped the pressure. Whitfield’s free kick went wide of the left post.

Harbottle then replaced Perch in a final change for the visitors with five minutes left. Another three Barrow corners were well-defended and in the second minute of time added, a Nwabuokei cross from the right was punched away by Pym.

Out of the FA Cup, concentrate on the league! Attendance 2,501 including 235 visiting fans.

Good performance today, should have won but when you don't take your chances and you have a keeper who is to weak to come for anything in his 6 yard box, you lose

Poor game, even poorer conditions. The amount of water particularly on the stand side meant passing the ball was going to be hard yet we seemed to try it there more often than anywhere else on the pitch and kept getting caught out. Couldn't fault the effort but you felt that once Mansfield got in front, we were never going to have the quality to break them down. That said we should've been 2 up before they scored; Kay's header from point blank range and Moyo...not sure what he was doing inside the six yard box just had to poke it goalwards.
The goal itself was soft. A soft free kick not cleared and they reacted quicker to the ball and turned it in.

As solid as Kenlock is we're a far better team with Brough in and his overlapping runs down the left, he put a few good balls in but no one was getting on the end of them. Waters was quiet, Gordon worked hard as ever but doesn't pose a threat on the wing and didn't get much protection against some big strong defenders. Moyo for his size you want him to get in and amongst their defenders and give a bit back but he doesn't. Don't think he won a header all day and seems to jump without any impact on the defender if he's even close that is. Poor first touch, weak for a player of his size and missed a sitter inside the six yard box at 0-0. As someone said previously he just looks out of his depth completely at this level and ineffective. Bennett I'm not convinced is the answer but he's a far better option than Moyo.

A cup run would've been nice for the extra money but not to be we could be playing now and still not have scored. Mansfield probably showed a bit of what we lack in the aggression and nasty side. Not sure about Wilds complaints with the ref I thought overall he was ok although blew up at a time when we were attacking which is unusual. Maybe a penalty first half when Moyo and their defender came together but wasn't obvious. The one with Bennett I think with Bennett looking at their player first and then backing in didn't help his cause, not sure it was even a foul though.

Back to the league then and in a far better position than probably anyone expected, so need to concentrate on sustaining that now.

The club never informed anyone they were doing what they did - first we saw was as the players lined up on the centre circle

100% agree. Good when it's your team. Frustrating when your against it. Forst goal was critical today and we could have been 2 up before they scored. Is what it is and we just carry on as before.

In the past the club/British Legion have asked for people to sell poppies in the ground, and that has happened. Wonder why that wasn't done today.
