The feeling is it’s two of Barrow, Harrogate, Newport for the drop. I cannot think of anything else but hoping the season ends with us third bottom. That’s how low the bar is set now.

We will know better about our situation after the 6 February games.
If we haven't increased the gap between ourselves from Newport and Harrogate, it will be a real worrying time.

Newport fixtures in February are ;-
Grimsby (9th) Home
Swindon (6th) Away
MK Dons (4th) Away
Salford (3rd) Away
Cambridge (2nd) Home
Fleetwood (15th) Away
Some tough games there.

Barrow's fixtures are l:-
Notts County (5th) Away
Shrewsbury (22nd) Away
Colchester (11th) Home
Harrogate (24th) Home
Fleetwood (15th) Away
Gillingham (14th) Home

Harrogate play :-
Swindon (6th) Home
Cambridge (2nd) Home
Chesterfield (8th) Away
Barrow (20th) Away
Bromley (1st) Home
Cheltenham (18th) Home

If we can't beat Shrewsbury and especially Harrogate at home the game is over - literally.

After today's game I don,t have much hope.We were watching the opposition instead of tackling them. The rot set in when we lost 3 of our best players on a free at the end of last season and replaced them with average players, some of whom were carrying injuries when we signed them.Is it any wonder we haven,t had a settled team all season?
We need players who will run through a brick wall for this club but there are very few in this team who will do that.I cannot blame the manager,a lot of these players are just not good enough. If we do manage to survive this season it will be because of mistakes other teams have made.I just do not know who the leaders in this team are who are able to drive this team forward and therin lies the problem.

Problem is we’re as bad at home as we are away. There is no home advantage whatsoever. Hopefully this will change but I wouldn’t even be confident of us beating Harrogate at the moment.

My feeling is that since PW left we have banged around from one idea to another with various changes of head coaches and philosophies. The whole idea of bringing Clemence in was to bring more attractive football and hence increase crowds etc. We then lurched from there to exactly the opposite with Whing. It’s been a total masterpiece in how not to run a club on the field.
The BOD have to take ultimate responsibility as they have the cheque book and do the hiring and firing. I have sympathy with Hornby as he is a numbers man and not really a football man and he has been a good custodian of the finances. We all presume that Wood is the main man on the football side of things (although his exact role has never really been explained to us the fans).
I have nothing against the new coach but I can only feel he may the right man at the wrong time. Surely we should have appointed an experienced head on a short term contract to the end of the season with a big fat bonus for keeping us up. Then we re-evaluate again then at the end of the season and if we want to go down the young upcoming coach we should have done it then whether we stayed up or not and give them a clean slate to work from.

Spot on ,if we go down unless there's a complete re set needed on how we move forward or the club is finished, our planning on everything is just fire fighting and reactionary

One crumb of comfort - and it's only a crumb - is that we have played one, and in some cases two, games fewer than the teams around us!

Exactly this, its called lack of planning and it’s been evident since pre season.

The lack of new investment is killing us. Every season since we have got promotion it’s been fire fighting both on and off the field. On the field to survive in the EFL and off the field to keep the ground compliant with the football league.

Call me old fashioned but why not go back to playing with two wingers, which we've got. Also play the ball at ground level instead of lumping it forward and feeding big defenders.

I've thought this for quite some time. When we won the FA Trophy in 1990 we had 5 forwards including two wingers, three half backs and two full backs.

We also had a manager, not a head coach and a director of football, and the manager reported to the board as and when necessary, not to a DOF.

It is old fashioned but it worked.

They say that football is a simple game, so why complicate it?

This applies to teams throughout the top four divisions of the pyramid.

When Barrow are not at home I go to watch Holker Old Boys and get more satisfaction and enjoyment from a good old-fashioned game at grass roots level.

Sorry - I've just woken up - it must have been a dream I was having!

But what is there to suggest all of a sudden Newport, Harrogate and Shrewsbury are going to defy their half-plus season form and turn it all around?

Gallagher has to try something different, that's clear enough. It's going to be tough, it isn't going to do anyone's ticker any good, but unless we make any major moves prior to Monday night, this is what we have. Despite the differences on how we view the picture, it is time to muck in as one.
