A great set of results in pre season was bad for us really; it’s massively papered over what anyone sensible could see and that is that the attacking quality still isn’t there. Would never have imagined Jackson, Harper and especially Cameron as a lone striker having to start for us at the beginning at this season if you’d told me that in May

I think Murray has been sold a pup in that there was an expectation higher up that players would leave thus making money available, and Murray was told that X funds would be his.
Said players are still here so no more funds.
Wouldn't surprise me if Murray walked.
Let's get this straight something isn't right here!
We're told the player's got a 40% pay drop through relegation.
If they were on a massive wage they'll be under no rush to go.
Don't understand WHY the contracts didn't stipulate that if we were relegated the club could terminate them or keep the players if they wanted to stay !
Also why didn't the club realise that at least a couple wouldn't leave because of this poor decision?
We're told we had a top 10 budget BUT is this before or after player's have left!
As I said something isn't right!
If we can't sign any more player's then we've had it !
Imo In respect of the playing budget current contracts and how Shearer now no longer having any say in the club and how this plays out financially for the club Hornby massively downplayed the situation in his interviews

I think the only thing that is a surprise from Murray’s interview is the totally honesty he’s prepared to put out there because absolutely everything he has to say is 100% true! If we are honest it’s nothing everyone on here wasn’t already thinking or has said regards some of the players and the club as a whole over the last couple of years, it’s just unusual it coming from the manager! There’s a difference between being positive and bullshitting and as there’s not an awful lot to be positive about, he’s clearly not prepared to do the latter! Maybe if we’d have had someone with his awareness, open-ness and honesty after Wild went, then things may not be as they are now and we’d probably not even find ourselves in the National League because the short comings from top to bottom would have been identified and addressed before it got to that point. Given how things are the man has to be given time, even if it only means stability this season! I certainly won’t be on his back if that’s what we get.

If we had won the first 2 games would he be mentioning any of this? , the guys covering his back because some of his signings aren't that good so he's dragging last season in as an excuse!

This is where i get frustrated because every single fan on match day over the last two seasons could see the lack of creativity in centre midfield and a clinical finisher up top. Wilds side was built on a solid defensive base but we missed out on top 7 finish because the goals dried up when it mattered the most. Last summer with Whing it should have been the priority. 5 coaches later we get relegated whilst bemoaning the lack of a proper right back.
Without a goal scorer any team in any league will struggle to finish above mid table. Its on Reid, Cameron and Rose to get into double figures and they will need the service behind them

Haven't seen what Reid can do but couldn't see the other 2 getting double figures between them!

What do people expect
You wouldn’t buy a house built on sand and each manager will have the same problem the club isn’t ran as a real football club.
Until these things are sorted and the club is ran by professionals the same result is going to happen and we will continue replacing the managers until we sort out the route issues

Which positions within the club are lacking 'professionals'?

I think Bingo is alluding to our total lack of any youth system and he's right imo. There's local coaches who would jump at the chance to get one up and running.
I've said it repeatedly on here that even when we were a poor NPL side we had reserve and youth sides.
Hornby should stop pussyfooting around the issue and make a youth set-up high on his lengthening list of 'must dos'.

The manager should be coming out with positivity no matter what the situation. He’s coming over so negative and that has to manifest itself on the team. I’m really not warming to the man!
So basically you want him to be untruthful about the situation and sugar coat things?
TBH how unpalatable it might be he is being honest. The club is in a mess. We have players still with us that are preventing us and as Murray said in the interview meaning we are missing out on targets. He said two in recent days had gone elsewhere
Yes we have parachute money but our major shareholder (40%) In Shearer is no longer involved.
We need results and we need them quickly or folk will quickly lose interest and in turn the club lose revenue
I don’t disagree with what you are saying. But we had what can only be described as a promising pre-season and Murray was upbeat about the squad, the new recruits, being a more physical team, representing the town as the fans would want them to play and turning Holker Street back into a fortress etc etc.
We’ve gone from that to 2 opening season defeats and a squad that he can’t now add to and player mentality being called into question alongside a club that is effectively still broken from last season.
I don’t want him to lie and bull about the situation but I do want him to be a leader and have the positive energy to turn this around and not feed the negativity. The old adage about never getting too high when things are going well and never getting too low when it’s not.

He's another Mark Cooper will take no blame will be criticising the training facilities next, a lot of his new signings aren't National league level, the Club want a top 7 finish this squad is definitely bottom 7.

" this squad is definitely bottom 7".
That's a fact in my book given the way things are now panning out. Because of one thing and another I have only seen the Workington game and-no disrespect to the Workington team-and contrary to what some people say-I came away from that game thinking to myself, and keeping it to myself, that this new Barrow side are really gonna struggle this season. I've been stood on the terraces since 1968 and this was one of those pre-seasons where I just couldn't see anything there to give me hope.
Again, contrary to what some believe, I really think we will even struggle to beat the teams around us....as we are now.
