Surely the forecasted Storm Boelo cast 'some doubt' on the game going ahead - which ultimately proved to be the case.

You couldn’t call it off before midday today as the pitch would have been perfectly playable thenSayitagainSam wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2026 3:33 pmSurely the forecasted Storm Boelo cast 'some doubt' on the game going ahead - which ultimately proved to be the case.
They kicked off early and then abandoned it at half time so file it in the same bracketMain Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2026 3:41 pmYou couldn’t call it off before midday today as the pitch would have been perfectly playable thenSayitagainSam wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2026 3:33 pm

FWIW Holker old boys game up at Rakesmoor went ahead arguably the highest point in Furness
Although the turnstile was also out of action last week, I think it was a safety issue today.Barrow afc 2018 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2026 5:53 pm Credit to all who turned up today especially those who traveled. Great to see the lads show their appreciation to everyone.
I don’t think we could’ve got any wetter even if we’d have dived in the park lane, appreciate the refs have got a tough job but surely bearing in mind the forecast it was folly to go ahead. I would’ve understood more if the forecast was an improving one.
I was a bit late as one of the turnstiles was shut and there was a massive queue at the other one hence missed the goal along with others.
Onwards and upwards.
Ah didn’t know it was a safety issue, thanks for the update. Agree about Wilkie Way deadly getting soaked on wet days.saltcellar wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2026 6:35 pmAlthough the turnstile was also out of action last week, I think it was a safety issue today.Barrow afc 2018 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2026 5:53 pm Credit to all who turned up today especially those who traveled. Supporters weren't allowed to use the double door gates there today to leave because of it.
Saying you couldn't get any wetter, I got absolutely drenched going to the match by a car going through standing water near the entry into the Tally Ho car park.
Was glad to get home, strip everything off and get into a nice warm bath.
14:00 is a tad late for any commuting barrow fans.Wintergreen wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2026 3:46 pm For his own credibility he should have called it off on his initial inspection at 14:00.
Imagine a coach trip back to Gloucester in wet troosers. The horror, the horror.
