Plenty of fight and dogged determination throughout this team and they can play a bit too.
I feared the worst at halftime as their play acting and the Orient number seven milking the referee for all he was worth, along with a couple of rash challenges thrown in by us. I honestly thought we would self destruct second half with at least one sending off especially with the way the referee was playing things.
Great credit to our players though as we showed real composure at times and the game and the officials settled somewhat. In the end we gained a well deserved point.
One last thing some of their players and supporters clearly think they are too good for this league and with attitudes like that they deserve to fall flat on their derrieres.

with any attitude at this level, they will shoot their own balls off. They,like the rest of this league, are there for a reason. Maybe they a little like Luton who took like 7 seasons to get out

The match is 4 minutes old and the visitors from an isolated town in the distant north-west lead already.Surely we have more resources than Barrow and should expect to beat them,even a draw should not be good enough.

Well, what to make of that. Poor fayre if you ask me, something to do with a cock up in the catering department. The buggers couldn't tell the difference between a Balti and Chichen/mushroom Pie???
What chance do you stand? Free programmes from the Orient, but not much else free. Talking to a couple of the stalwarts, who saw both opening games, was expecting proper football NOT hoofball (Coxy game);
Despite an awful kick off routine, O's did exactly the same, after 45 mins, I was pleasantly surprised that we actually played proper footy. Kay skimmed the bar within two minutes and low and behold a nice sweeping move, ball played on floor
and our Jack puts us one up. For the next eighteen minutes we dominate. Then unfortunately Rhys Turner has to be replaced, and what with some blatant time wasting the O's crowd get onto the Refs back, all because they were Carp.
Captain McAnuff realising they are second best spends more time harrassing the Ref (his first National league match) than chasing O's passes, but then he is 36 years old. Then the crowd are in baying mood, Andy Firth goes down (didn't see incident) and he had already made one decent save. 5 mins added on and we go again. O's are more up for it and there were quite a few feuds materialising around the pitch, all simmering. Facing three first half bookings I was fearing the worst. Also, although Orient equalised, they didn't actually dominate. Granite was superb, Firth played incredibly well as he was the villian of the party. I don't think he knew how he stopped one second half 'howitzer' it smacked him in the face from three yards, but there was no sympathy from the home crowd. I feared the worst when we went 2/1 down, but then Raul came on as a Sub and poked home within five minutes. So Desmond it was (Tutu) And for me MofM was the new recruit Kyle Jameson, a very mature performance from someone so young!! That was one hard earned point, and I am always pleased to see effort. Roll on Tuesday (just hope the guys can recover in time). Makes such a nice change to witness a proper decent shift put in by just about everyone.

Pretty decent assessment Southcoaster. I would just add that whatever our current strengths or weaknesses the way we are trying to play does put a smile on your face and their overall atittude as a team is really good. On the plus side its been a long time since a I saw a BAFC team create so much space up front for themselves. They will create chances playing like that and Hindle will score a few. The rest however need to avoid the tendency to overcomplicate when in a threatening position. Having dominated the first quarter playing some really nice stuff there was a certain naivety in the way we lost control. This was fuelled partly by the Orient fans discontent with their own team, which then influenced the behaviour of the Orient team who then dragged the game into a more physical encounter using the crowd to influence the referee. Only then did they start to out-football us. Whilst this might be wrong it'll happen repeatedly and especially in away games and you have to have a plan to combat it that avoids simply breaking up play and physically stopping the opposition. Also while Firth was excellent, his time wasting at the end of the first half was stretching it a bit and by half time we seemed to have just lost the plot. So although 1 ahead what followed in the third quarter already looked inevitable.

Only after Orient scored did we remember that we actually were the team playing football at the start. Ironically Orient having taken the lead then made the same mistake conceding possession and space and credit to the team as they were able to switch back on and finished just about in the acendency. Overall I thought this was a better performance (mainly in patches) than we managed against H&W against a better side on their home turf. I'm not absolutely sure which direction the team is headed in just yet but there are definite signs of development. We are going to have a few disciplinary and injury issues this season thats for sure, but win loose or draw I have to admit - they are better to watch than 12 months ago.

Need to reiterate the point re Kyle Jameson also. He is definately no dud and was everywhere. His acquisition despite coming as a result of injury seems to have actually strengthed the defence. Next two games will be a real test.

Chesterfield took 800 to Ebbsfleet last week. Only drawback to a repeat could be that they are at Salford on Saturday. Two away trips in a week could be stretching finances too far.

You have miscounted there (it was 5 seasons), but you make a good point. And of course there's Wrexham, who are now in their 11th season - though they finally seem to have accepted it now.

Totally agree , hopefully he will show he failing infront of goal for all his previous games was due to the players he played with.
26 games 2 goals not a great record now its 27 games 3 goals
I also remember the great Bob Ledger on his debut after signing from Mansfield he scored 2 goals but never scored in the next 21 games,John Rowlands 6 goals in 54 games.
Lets hope he continues to score then come back and remind us .

He has the ability and is strong in the tackle. A wee bit more thought into the equation may well prove him. Hope so as he has plenty of energy and pace.

In his short time here Ian Evatt is continuing to raise the bar. Compared to where we were on the pitch last season, he has adjusted the whole playing side to create a competitive Barrow side in such a short time. I don’t get to many away games but was encouraged yesterday by seeing how we started the game and for large spells bossed things. Players just doing their job and doing it well. The loan centre half stepped up and considering he’s just met his new team mates was not fazed by any of it. Dan Jones, a player who looked like he’d had enough of it at the back end of last season has been revitalised under Evatt. We play some good stuff, we have a bit of game management snide and swagger which I love, we won’t be little old Barrow going to get rolled over. Last season side at 2-1 it would probably have ended up 3/4-1 (I think it did didn’t it) but we got back into it and over the balance of the game I think we were the better side. Just think about that, three competitive games, with a totally new set of players. Early days, but faith is being restored this season and everyone associated with the club deserves a lot of credit for being bold, wiping the slate clean and basically starting it all from scratch.

The most pleasing thing for me was listening to Evatt post match and that he was disappointed that we didn’t take all three points! The opening lines of this post match interview really sums up his winning mentality- slightly frustrated that we only got a point in the end! This is what we need and he is bringing bring back pride in the team. Great atmosphere, loved every minute of it yesterday.

Ninety minutes of play acting, moaning and whining from eleven well-coached con men in blue jerseys. One of the most distasteful performances I have seen from a visiting team at Brisbane Road in twenty nine years of following the O's. Yesterday was another short, sharp reality check of just where we are and the level at which the game is played down here.
