Re: Barrow v Colchester match thread
I cannot believe that defending tonight, why Cooper didn't play a flat back 4 baffles me ,should have played 4 3 3 Jason Taylor had a nightmare no way should he play there again, he's OK when players are slow but all the goals were pathetic (I know he wasn't on for the 3rd).
Zanzala should have scored at least 2 goals and Gordon has no killer instinct to get into goalscoring positions inside the box., what Jones was doing is borderline stupidity!
we desperately need Platt back but as usual no info on him from the club!
as for the alleged racism, surely someone knows who this clown
was man up and give their name to the club!

Re: Barrow v Colchester match thread
Three soft goals against us in one game, absolutely shocking, the third just looked like we stood ball watching…….they won’t have an easier win all season.
Banks had a very poor game by his usual standards although probably a bit unfair to single him out - Kay was no better when he came on….clock could very well be ticking on him. And Jones, what were you doing? gets back into the team and does that.
Some of our balls into the box were abysmal, these are professional footballers we’re watching! One cross (not sure by who) went out for a throw in on the opposite side of the pitch!!
Having said that, how we never won that game with the amount of chances we had is as baffling as it is frustrating.

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but surely White should be getting in our starting lineup.

Well the first 4 shots of the game went either into/over the stand or took our fans heads off
need to be better all over the park, game to build character and bounce back from, and probably a tanning from Cooper by the sounds of things.

Good game for the neutral tonight, not so much for the Barrow fans. Defence was absolutely shite, all over the spot…..but if we had a full strength squad at least two of them wouldn’t be playing, possibly all 3. Can’t understand why Arthur isn’t starting? And even more so Tom White?

Awful. He was lucky he lasted as long as he did against Bristol Rovers as well, he was horrendous that dayspirit of 1990 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 10, 2021 10:33 pm Kay was no better when he came on….clock could very well be ticking on him
Re: Barrow v Colchester match thread
Nobody really stood out did they. For all Gordon's workrate, he just doesn't get the ball in the right positions. For all Zanzala's moments of excellence, 95% of the rest he is absent or fouling someone. Gotts was ok when he got the ball tonight but the game generally passed him by. Excellent chasing down by Stevens for the first goal. He looks to have a sporadic spark about him, but again was relatively quiet. Brough had a night off but Hutton worked huffed and puffed. Just an off night I guess.
That said, for all this 'excellent' build up play...we don't half favour a long ball to relatively short forwards, do we?!
I'm not having the excuse of not being on grass either. Does not being on grass encourage long ball play?!?!. Have a word MC

Re: Barrow v Colchester match thread
At least you have a bit of faith that Cooper wouldn't stand for anything like that performance tonight. We'd have been unlucky in David Dunn's eyes.
Popular side since '03.
Re: Barrow v Colchester match thread
Several shots into the stands tonight! Couple of shots cleared off the line and 2 penalty decisions not given. Officials were [SwearFilter] poor yet again - must like sending the dregs of society to our games. Foul on Banks for a penalty right in front of thr linesman not given. Our defence was awful and why Arthur didn't start ahead of Taylor I'll never know. Never seen a team so poor from corners whether we are attacking or defending. Really thought we'd take at least a point in this game but it just didn't go our way....

IF is a big word.Have read another thread some guy stood right behind goal and with others who heard nothing untoward .Lot of silly boys that area but can’t believe older fans would not have heard them and had a word if occurred.Let’s not beat ourselves up straight away for what at present is unfounded allegation.Mancbluebird wrote: ↑Fri Sep 10, 2021 8:31 pm Tell you what if its true I am absolutely disgusted in racist comments being shouted from home fans take a hard look at yourselves you utter scum off the earth. And anyone that moans on here again and says booing the taking off a knee at holker street do one dont come back. This is the reason the lads do it shocking.

If you were Festus Arthur or Hull City watching that defensive display tonight, having not even been subbed on on you will be very disappointed. Especially knowing JT was preferred to play in your position.
