Probably nothing too this theory - but Exeter have just released a 6'4" central defender called George Ray. 28 years old - played 32 games last season including some on loan at Orient from January onward. 178 League appearances mainly for Crewe. Played against us twice last season Exeter (H) 0-0 and Orient (A) which we lost 2-0. He's from Warrington so may be looking to come back to the North West.

I did hear last week one of our signings is going to be a ‘wow’ signing. If we get Rhys Oats then I’m backing us to get promoted.

To be fair most of us probably said wow when we heard Richie Bennett was back

It’s a bit like the Eskimo or Inuit language that has few words but can mean many things. It’s all in the pronunciation.
The “wow” in “wow signing” referred to is actually pronounced WOWWWWWWW!!!!! It’s very rare and hasn’t been heard at HS for many years. Much more common is the the pronunciation “WOW…MEH” the suffix indicating a less than exuberant “wow”. Finally and most frequent would be the term “WOW… REALLY??? This indicates a certain level of disappointment and that the “wow” is not actually a “wow” at all.

To me that is a very
positive WOW but it depends which way you say '
REALLY' - going up with your voice for a positive, and down for a negative.

Point taken. In the sense intended “”WOW……REALlY” can be substituted with “WOW….YERAVINALARF”. Ex -pat supporters will be particularly familiar with this term in parts of the South.
