Had it confirmed from the LFA this morning that this years final is likely to be in pre-season

Last and only time we got to the Lancs Senior Cup final was in the 1954-55 season and I believe we beat Preston. Anyone know the score or any other details of that match. I think the final was played at Holker St.

Wonder why Radio Cumbria didn't cover the semi tonight.....oh wait!

Wrong we lost at Burnley in the Final 3-2 after been 2up April 9th 1970 Mulvaney & Hartland scoring our goals att 3,251 how can you not remember it.

Cannot remember attending the Burnley game. History or folklore has suggested that the great Keith Newton played for Burnley in that game. For those who don’t go back that far, Newton played full back for England and featured in that infamous 3-2 defeat to West Germany in the World Cup QF in Mexico. In 1970. I still haven’t forgiven Peter Bonetti for that defeat.

Ramsey should never have subbed Bobby Charlton either. That was one of the most painful Sunday afternoons ever in watching the national team and the ramifications still reverberate to this day.

Still not sure who we beat in 1955 to win the Lancs Cup though.

So it was Oldham I knew the RL team had beaten them in the same year. Reason I thought it was Preston as I saw an old programme on the net for sale between Barrow & Preston in April 1955 so thought that may have been the final.

Other semi is now 5th may 10:30am at Burnley’s training ground

I see Burnley progressed to the tba in due course final at Leyland.

Little bit of a surprise as I’ve been told that Blackburns young ones are some of the best around
