Unfortunately football is about business more than ever and football is an entertainment business at that.
So regarding attendance figures, they will always go up when the team are fighting for something, look at recent cup exploits and Wembley days out, the fans are there, they just want to be entertained (as some bloke in a skirt said after scrapping with another bloke in a skirt around 2000 years ago...but the attendance was up ;) )
Wether we play slick attacking football or grind out hard fought games to get the 3 pts or to salvage a point late on, that's what supporters want!
What's the situation with kids attending now, is it still adult accompanied only? They are the future, some of us oldies have find memories of coming to games with mates from young ages, getting away from parents etc..the ground has been improved massively so the creature comfort element is a million miles better than it was ten years ago..
But for fans, they want to see us challenging for something and that is probably why we have a steady 3k turning up?

Whings remit will have been to see off the threat of relegation which barring a miracle he appears to have done.

Barring a few that are already contracted for next season he will have pretty much a blank canvas in the summer where finances permitting he can build a squad of players he wants to take us forward into next season.

The off season will be an interesting one. Will we sign players up early or leave it late.?How many of our signings will have worked with Whing before ? What loan players will we sign and from where? How big a squad will we have ? It promises to be a summer full of speculation and rumour and interest
Certainly feel there will be a huge clear out at the end be of the season. Can think of a number that will likely go onto play higher (e.g. Spence) and several that are somehow still on our books such as Kouyate, Mahoney and Kirk.
We have an option on Kirk at the end of this season and I doubt that option will be taken up so he will be let go.imo I don't think we have many that are league one standard. Spence maybe but im struggling to pick any others. The step up is much bigger than coming from a top National league side to league 2.imo.

True, possibly Campbell. But yeh, certainly a lot more going to the national league or lower than going up.

Perhaps those who have seen Morecambe'pitch recently might?

That pitch is more reminiscent of the Somme than a beach.

The fans are not there, Wembley and FA Cup exploits were a day out for half of those fans who have never been to a league game since. We have always been a tier four club bar two or three seasons. Even Fleetwood with their sugar daddy eventually came down to their natural position in the football pyramid. Morecambe and Accrington to.

Don’t forget we are governed by strict financial controls. It’s easy for fans to overlook the constraints the club operates under. Basically up 50% of club income can be set aside for player budgets.

Match day revenues will be our biggest source of income, then If that 3000 could become 4000 it would add £300k income over a season. Half of that could go into player budgets. Would like to see a big push over summer to get more through the gates. We need it to keep progressing on the pitch.

I think average 3000 home fans in league 2 is ok. We do not benefit from large away followings from any clubs apart from a couple. The ground and infurtucture couldn't cope with more than 4500. The facilities, whilst better, are not great.

The club has done well but could do better. We are probably still not maximising match day revenue. The infurtucture at the club with no junior teams academy reserves etc means there is a little more misconduct with the local community. These things generate support
