I should hope so. That’s 3 weeks away!
Why has it taken so long? It’s embarrassing.

No working scoreboard, defective substitute boards, very poor reflection on the club.
Re: Barrow v Shrewsbury Town match thread
Poor thing, have you still not come to terms with non league mediocrity yet!

The substitute/additional time board needs fixing or replacing. Is that for the club to do, or the FA to provide?saltcellar wrote: ↑Sat Oct 04, 2025 6:51 pmNo working scoreboard, defective substitute boards, very poor reflection on the club.
Another one that has been an issue for a while.
We really need to get on top of these things. They really do matter, and are the difference between looking professional or amateur.
There was a point in the game where players weren’t sure who was being substituted. It also caused the tannoy announcer to make a mistake, when announcing the substitutes being made.
Let’s get on top of these things early, before they become bigger issues.

Clearly the weather was always going to make for a very poor game. Having said that Shrewsbury played the conditions far better and probably deserved the win.
What the hell happened in the second half I don’t know. Balls being pumped up to Josh Gordon on his own with a gale force wind behind him?
We had no tactical plan, were hesitant and wasteful, and lost the ball constantly. If MJ Williams had not been on the pitch we would not have kept them out. Stanway got the MOTM because there was nobody else to give it to. Only positive is that we did not concede.
Think it shows how far we still are from being a competent team in this League.

There was if you read that again. MOTM always a difficult one though on such a day. I would’ve given it MJ Williams. He deserves to be captain, that’s for sure.Suffolk Blue wrote: ↑Sat Oct 04, 2025 7:00 pmIf MJ Williams had not been on the pitch we would not have kept them out. Re: Barrow v Shrewsbury Town match thread
Wyll Stanway was awarded Barrow’s man of the match for tipping a long-range Anthony Scully shot over the bar in the 28th minute. We created very few chances, especially playing against the wind towards the Cross Bar end in the first half, and often struggled to retain possession. In that first half, Stanway’s goal kicks were blown off course by the wind, or struggled to make the half way line. If we played out from the back, we were soon inviting pressure as we lost possession too easily.
It was therefore with relief we went in at half time with the score still goalless, with renewed hopes that a second half playing with the wind would tip the balance. Sadly, although we were better and had a couple of good chances, Shrewsbury deserved a share of the spoils for their own battling endeavours.
Shrewsbury had the first good chance of the first half, Hoole hitting the post in the 17th minute after Kabia had drilled in a dangerous cross.
In the 28th minute, Kabia was fouled by Earing and Stanway caught Sang’s free kick. After the goal kick, Scully unleashed that power shot Stanway did well to tip over.
In the 36th minute, Perry shot just wide from range as the Shrews continued to look the most likely to grab that first goal.
In the 44th minute we had an enforced change due to an injury to Barkhuizen, Harper coming on to replace him.
Goalless at the break, and every reason to believe we would improve playing with the wind in the second half. However, again we struggled to keep possession enough to forge enough chances for the win.
There was a goalmouth scramble after an inswinging Mahoney corner five minutes in, a close range shot from MJ Williams being saved by Brook.
Earing went down for treatment in the 53rd minute and was replaced by Booty, a second enforced change for the Bluebirds.
In the 59th minute, Mahoney, who would have had only had the goalie to beat, only just failed to connect with a great ball forward from Harper.
However, the visitors were still retaining enough of the ball to cause us problems, MJ Williams making a goalline clearance on the hour after a Kabia cross.
With the game turning into a wind-dominated stalemate, we brought on Walker and Whitfield for Mahoney and Newby in the 69th minute. Four minutes later, the visitors replaced Biggins and Scully with McDermott and England.
A minute after McDermott came on, he was pulled down by Gordon who was carded. Clucas’s free kick went wide.
In the 77th minute, we finally tested the Shrewsbury goal with a long-range shot, Booty’s effort sailing just over the Holker Street end crossbar.
Another Shrewsbury double-change in the 80th minute saw Lloyd and Aneke come on for Marquis and Sang.
In the 83rd minute we were again under the cosh as a handball by Booty gave McDermott a free kick in a dangerous position on the edge of the area. His kick hit the wall and was then cleared for a corner.
Three minutes later, we put more belated pressure on the Shrews, Fletcher having a shot saved. Too little, too late for the win. In the six minutes of added time, Fletcher was booked for Barrow and Kabia and Aneke for
Shrewsbury as both sides tried to go for a late goal- or deny the other side one.
Full time 0-0, a fair result, with both the wind and slippery conditions affecting the quality of the football.

It displays the time elapsed. So yes, it makes a huge difference. I doubt many people sit watching the game wondering what the score is!SayitagainSam wrote: ↑Sat Oct 04, 2025 7:12 pmMade no difference, wouldn't have been used, with a 0 - 0 score.

Whing summed it up in his post match interview - really poor game, too many players' performances today nowhere near what they are capable of.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Sat Oct 04, 2025 6:38 pm It was a very poor game with Shrewsbury the better side in shocking conditions IMO. Nice to see Harper get some minutes and that can only be good moving forward. He did show a few nice touches . Apart from that it was a game to quickly forget about.
