Players we might be interested in....
Re: Players we might be interested in....
If you go on the BBC transfer site Fleetwood, Oxford and Bradford have all signed players from the League of Ireland in the last 2 weeks with the transfers being completed today

Wild when asked about Feely by AJ on radio Cumbria was not confident a deal would go through by Jan 1st his words were International clearance can take a while
Re: Players we might be interested in....
I'd like to see a fully fit McClelland back - that would feel like a new signing.

Wild expects another signing by the end of the week and hopes for another couple before the month is out.
Don't let the old man in.

Re: Players we might be interested in....
Wild said in after match interview on Radio Cumbria a new signing that we all know about will be announced on Thursday
He also said 15 out of contract in the summer and if they won’t sign new deals we might as well cash in on them so expect a few going out before the window shuts

Interesting; not sure how many of those going to be out of contract we would get a fee for now tbh

Gotts could be an interesting one.

Gotts, Brough, Gordon, Stevens, Kay, possibly Farman,Hopefully Ellis signs a deal at Torquay to free up some of his wage and I can’t see Grayson coming backHenneysKnee wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2023 7:53 pm Interesting; not sure how many of those going to be out of contract we would get a fee for now tbh

Brough is our best player by a mile I'd break the bank to keep him; rarely makes a mistake good defender and our best crosser too.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2023 7:58 pmGotts, Brough, Gordon, Stevens, Kay, Farman,HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2023 7:53 pm Interesting; not sure how many of those going to be out of contract we would get a fee for now tbh
Stevens shows promise and seems to be recapturing some form, would like to see him stay. The rest are replaceable and I wouldn't be too bothered about losing, Gotts is possibly the only one way who may get interest from a bigger club...
Farman gets some unfair stick I think at times but again I think there is better out there...
Newby has signed so good luck to him, he's different to what we have and hopefully can have an impact. He's physically better than he was 7 years ago and has benefited from playing mens football at a lower level.
The Irish right/centre back seems a done deal and then hopefully a central midfielder, winger and striker....sounds easy....
Re: Players we might be interested in....
With feely signing that would indicate one of Zuk or brown will be off. Kenlock not been seen in a squad in a while could he be one of the ones off which the manager eluded to in his post match with Adam?
Rumours circulating clubs are interested in Josh Kay so wouldn't be surprised to see the club cash in especially with the emergence of Stevens good form however if he doesn't sustain it I'd be happy to see him go also in the summer.
Brough and gotts two I'd love to keep but clubs will definitely be looking at them be interesting to see what happens. Jury's out on Gordon for me not sure he will score 15 plus goals a season consistently which we need from our front man, works hard will back the manager on what he decides to do with him.
Would be interesting to know whether Dundee are paying all of Grayson's wages or not, one for Adam to ask the manager possibly? Not a great lover of farman positive there is better out there that we could sign.
Whitfield the one where clubs will be offering serious cash for I hope we can keep those clubs at bay.

Re: Players we might be interested in....
15 players out of contract end of season could be really bad news for us as we can't afford to lose say Gotts, Kay, Brough etc all at once - thats a big rebuild job unless PW has plans in place. If another player due Thursday then possibly 2 more this month then that looks like a few are on way out.
Personally I'd keep Gordon, might not score lots but work horse. Kay on his day is a good player but his discipline is shocking. Gotts definitely but i have the feeling this is another Platt and he knows hes going somewhere bigger so will sit tight. Stevens is improving this year and Brough should be priority but again is someone bigger offering a more lucrative deal ? Got some tough games this month and its going to be just as interesting in the transfer window lets just hope we gain points and have a decent squad to get through the rest of the season

Re: Players we might be interested in....
Think our big problem if there is one will come in the summer. With so many players out of contract at the same time however we need to keep a decent core. So some of those players that are currently targets for criticism on this forum will have to be retained like it or not.
The financial climate will have a significant effect on the way this plays out. Many of the players might be seeking improved deals wherever they can find them, but they may find a very difficult financial situation awaits. My gut tells me that whilst one or two of our better players may be vulnerable (including those still under contract) the majority of those out of contract will probably looking to do a deal with the club in the same way that Canavan has done. When he signed his extension he was candid enough to admit that security was a factor in his decision making. Its a tough old world out there.

Interesting. Loan only though from Bradford, but a N Ireland u/21. If it’s true, are we going to better our team? Obviously not in Bradfords plans at the moment.
