i bet bayliss and the whole squad are gutted it sounds like macc were there for the taking tonight,after the performance tonight theres nothing to fear when taking them on again.

Replay is on Saturday week when we should have been playing them at home in the league.

I honestly believe Barrow can turn them over on their own patch, Barrow were dominant throughout tonight. Nice to see such a massive club bring a mini bus of fans.

Macc were abysmal really surprised by how bad they were... Surely can't be that bad in the replay. Half an inch away from winning tonight and a bit of luck away from giving them a tonking.

Second half we were excellent and never going to lose in a million years, night and day difference from the Hereford game. Disappointed to see and hear so many people moaning about subs, does the team a huge discredit imo as everyone, Ruthers and all, were performing superbly, creating chances and working their arses off. We were always going to create chances as things were and were well on top, a change could have let them back in the game. I sometimes think we big almond up too much, he's good but not sure he'd have won us it tonight, wasn't that sort of game. Just a typical reaction from many, "we aren't winning...bring a sub on".

Shame we couldn't have give them a tonking because they were such a cynical niggly side, and an extra game does us no good...

Final point for their very few fans, absolutely terrible support, we react to slide tackles louder then they were when they scored... Pitiful

Really enjoyed that tonight....well done bayles, questioned the formation when they ran out but spot on tonight, one of the best performances i can remember..almost felt like a win walking out of the ground..............when we all stick in , fans and players something good happens....much better...now theres hope!!!!!!!!!!!

We played very well for large parts of the game.

I'm sure someone will come on with a succint analysis, but I'll just add a few out of 10's

Danny Hurst- 6/10. Some decent saves but was at fault for their goal. Caught a few crosses.
Matt Flynn- 6/10 Solid enough against some powerful forwards.
Mike Pearson- 7/10 Best performance for some time, came under pressure in spells, played on the front foot.
Sean Hessey- 7/10 Much more comfortable- they look like a pair.
Gavin Skelton- 9/10 Hats off. Had Jack Mac in his back pocket all day, then got forward, carved out a great chance and got stuck right in.

Sean McConville 7/10- Decent early on, good passer but tired at the end.
James Owen 9/10- Brilliant, must be a nightmare to play against, was everywhere.
Richie Baker 8/10 Great Goal, crap corners
Alex Ray Harvey 8/10 Tigerish and passed it well
Paul Rutherford 7/10 A good, hardworking shift with not too many of the usual 'moments'

Adam Boyes 9/10 Man of the Match. Would have been 10 if he's scored when he hit the bar, he showed wonderful technique. Brave, quick, great touches, right in the face of the opposition all the time, brought others into play.


Them? They have some good players, but they arent's playing for each other, except when diving, getting in the refs ear ( he was rubbish second half). It's mainly a selection of southern mercenaries assembled at unaffordable expense. They were backed by simply the most pathetic ex league club support ever seen at Holker Street (60 odd).After all their bleating too.

Enjoyed the night of cup football, except the result.

Can't help but think that was a chance wasted tonight. Can't fault anyone on the night, but if Bayliss does have a fault it's his reluctance to take a risk to try and win a game. Our best chance of going through in the tie was tonight, and when we were getting on top second half we should have thrown Almond or Jackson on to play alongside the immense Adam Boyes. Boyes was tireless, but he barely had a chance all night. With 20 mins to go second half the game was there for the taking, and we should have made the change then in an attempt to win the game. Not sure why it never happened, we were winning the midfield battle and perhaps Bayliss was worried that changing things might have effected that. Sometimes though you just have to take a risk, and not doing so has contributed to us failing to take our best chance of winning this tie.

As I say though, can't fault anyone as everyone worked their socks off and you could see how frustrated the players and management were that we never won the game. Refree was very poor second half, he'd let a lot go in the first half but he appeared to let Macclesfield's whining get to him in the second half was giving them everything in and around their own penalty area.

The tie isn't over by any means, but I can't help but feel incredibly frustrated about tonight.

Their support was the worst I have ever seen without any shadow of a doubt, nothing to do with numbers they were just completely lifeless. When they scored they stood there and applauded gently like they were at the opera FFS, we show more enthusiasm when we win a throw in!

Things I've seen tonight

We can go down there and get a result

We are good enough to stay up

Skelton is the best left back we have so lets leave it at that

We have missed James Owen in the middle, He was outstanding

Boyes- Have we ever had a striker as hardworking as him.

Pearson / Hessey never missed anything

We won the midfield battles and I'm pleased Bayliss resisted the chance to change it. We created plenty and were unlucky not to win it with the 11 out there.

The Barrow crowd were fantastic and got right behind the team

I think we'll take 500+ down there on that Saturday.

To add, I think we've found our optimum back 4.

You mean the same second half when they hit the bar and missed a few sitters?

If we pushed anymore we would have got beat. Not saying we shoundnt have not pushed more, but if we did there wouldn't have been a replay either way.

Thought they were shaky at the back and we should have won. Grade A tosser of a referee again.

Definitely prefer the defensive line up we played tonight.

I agree with some people on here that this was our big chance to win, we could, and should of won! Refereeing let us down again, giving them free kicks every time we entered their half. Will we win at their place? Well we can win any game when we work as hard as possible, but I just feel this was our chance. Great performance though, looks promising for the league games ahead.
