Re: BARROW vs Maidenhead FA Trophy
Hopefully Edmo is sticking a load of 7 day notices in on players as we speak, time for a clear out

arh for me encapsulates what is wrong. clearly has some talent. equally clearly from his performances couldn't care less. I actually feel worse about yesterday now I've calmed down. that was not a good Maidenhead side . I really am just about at tipping point now.

I am glad you cleared that up as I missed it at half time!!! and thought it had been completely forgotten.ant wrote:Most negative thing about todays game was the tannoy announcement welcoming Darren Edmondson to HS at HALF TIME! wtf was that all about? where was the build up.No disrespect but gotta say the guy wasnt very enthusiastic about it.
In fairness the lad doing the tannoy announcement was a college lad that stepped in when all the usual standby's were unavailable.
It is terrible that a club with a new manager did not introduce and welcome him officially to the supporters before the game started. Perhaps next Saturday it can be done properly. Better late than never.

Re: BARROW vs Maidenhead FA Trophy
I actually thought we played quite well the first half hour, twice we hit the side netting but after that........
This is what annoys me, if we can play like that (not brilliant I admit, but better than the following hour) what goes wrong, what makes them alter?
Maidenhead were shit, I don't think I've seen so many overweight players in one team. I'm sort of glad it was so bad because it show's Edmo exactly what he's got to do & at least it wasn't for a valuable three points.
A massive overhaul of the team is needed right now. His priorities must be at least one CB possibly two, O'Donnell has been a total let down & Williams is just not up to it. Midfield needs big, big changes with the only one worth keeping being Sheridan. Arnison needs a strike partner because this style of play quite clearly doesn't suit him.
For anyone thinking of not bothering, what did you expect after one game?

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Spirit man, it's not one game, it's the drip drip effect.
There's a point where folk just can't justify it, everyone has it.
I want the majority of these players shipped out ASAP, I expect us to improve and y avoid relegation. That's all.
But I can't watch some of this team much longer- they just don't care, it's sickening.

Re: BARROW vs Maidenhead FA Trophy
Just seemed to give up second half, at least 7 new players needed. Burns looks the only one that cares.
Good day out though, apart from football.
Nearly broke into a house on West view Road by accident and bumped into reg in shop in Dalton.

Re: BARROW vs Maidenhead FA Trophy
What a coincidence especially after he got heckled from the crowd in the last game and responded thoughtfully with a V-sign. Maybe he's been 'ill' all season, that would explain a lot. I've had enough of him too, Macclesfield shafted him and we gave the little prima donna a chance; he has the ability to make things happen but such was his demeanour in rejection by 'big timers' Macc that he couldn't be bothered rolling his sleeves up and making things happen in a team desperate for inspiration.Cliff_Corner wrote:Have I missed something here? According to his twitter he's been ill for the last few daysbarrowaberdeen wrote: NO WAY SHOULD RAY HARVEY COME BACK YOU INSULTING LITTLE GIMP. NEVER COME BACK
Moving on, we are going for players with a local flavour now - a brave move I think but at least we can expect some pride in the shirts; there's none of that at the present as the Barrow franchise reluctantly makes it's way up and down the M6.
We will foller the soccer, over land and sea...
Re: BARROW vs Maidenhead FA Trophy
We all have to stick with it. Abandoning the club and staying away are a sure way of making the 'we're doomed' prophesy self fulfilling. Yes Reg I am an exile but I rarely missed a home game when I lived in the town tho there were some pretty dire times, especially in the early days in non league. There have always been more bad times than good and it is in the bad times that the club most needs support.

however the football was poor. I think the song sheets helped though.

agree, if the fans don't bother turning up there is zero chance of turning things around. Fans don't turn up = less budget for next season = poorer side. Its hard it really is watching that but we need to stick with it. Tin hat onJim wrote:We all have to stick with it. Agree that it wasn't the fault of the announcer. Pity that nobody from the BOD realised the importance and briefed him properly prior to the game.Holkerbird wrote:I am glad you cleared that up as I missed it at half time!!! and thought it had been completely forgotten.ant wrote:Most negative thing about todays game was the tannoy announcement welcoming Darren Edmondson to HS at HALF TIME! wtf was that all about? where was the build up.No disrespect but gotta say the guy wasnt very enthusiastic about it.

FWIW I think doing a proper announcement next week would be adding insult to injury and draw more attention to the error.
Let it lie.

Not really, I get the argument, but like I say it's becoming harder to cope with...32mile_cul-de-sac wrote:agree, if the fans don't bother turning up there is zero chance of turning things around. Take yesterday. We had a few more mates there than in recent weeks, enjoyed the craic beforehand in the pub etc. Went in and we gave it more of a go than in recent weeks at home, nice to see the younger ones joining in, and we made a decent racket for quite a while. But Barrow just don't have the numbers right now to kee that going without anything happening on the park.
2nd half we were second to every ball, every knockdown, every second ball. They don't care about this club- how much is enough? How much are we supposed to pay £13 to watch people who don't represent Barrow, don't like Barrow, don't respect Barrow?
I haven't made as many games as last season because of work but at places such as Vauxhall and B.P.A I've just thought- what are we doing here? And I do get frustrated with rallying cries at the moment, understand the sentiment sure but how much can you be taken for a mug.
Nothng more than a total clearout is acceptable.

Re: BARROW vs Maidenhead FA Trophy
Well said Steve.
This team are just not interested the last two games for example we play ok but then the opposition score the battle has gone we roll over and get beat.
As for after full time I am hoping it was a one off will see what happens next weekend sorry for being cryptic all will come clearer next weekend.

Lets be honest the result wasn't really a surprise, was it? Given our recent form.
I think the person that probably got the biggest shock from yesterday was Edmo, we knew what to expect, he probably didn't think we were 'that' bad. His job now is quite simple, he has to save us from relegation that's it, then we can start next season from a fresh perspective and put this year behind us.
As for new players and a winger needed (as some have said) we have a winger, he sits on the bench and gets 10mins every now and then. Its the U18 player Mike Thomson. We he was given a full game (Bamber Bridge) he played some great balls, set up the 2nd goal and had a couple of shots on target, thats a lot more than our current players are doing. The U18 squad has some good players that should be in the first team, they are local lads they will play with pride and they come a lot cheaper than the 'couldnt care less' players we currently have.
While on the subject of the U18's, I understand that 4-5 have signed under non contract conditions, if 1 or 2 of these turn out to be star players are they locked into a contract so the club could get a transfer fee (or compensation) if they left or could we see them just walk away for free?
It would be a huge pity for the club to develop these kids only to see them walk away and sign for another team without us getting anything back in return, are we making sure this doesn't happen?
