Heard Andy Wood is leaving soon. Hope Adam Johnson from Radio Lonsdale gets his job. Really good commentator.

Aye good to hear the players for once, Grant then Asa both interviewed by Adam at the end.

Just a quick mention of the superb radio Lonsdale coverage, Adam once again gave us a good show even though he was flying solo, not for the first time and that can't be easy. He made it sound like seamless, effortless and fun and in the circumstances that was top notch coverage.
Adam is a brilliant commentator- he says what he sees - no wandering off the subject or dull sounding commentary. Radio Cumbria are missing a great freelance talent on their doorstep.
Somebody told me that Andy Wood is leaving at Christmas. No doubt he will be replaced by someone from Carlisle, wake up Radio Cumbria!
I really hope he is leaving at christmas,I for one have had enough of his negative meandering.
We need someone from this neck of the woods, instead of Woods, such as Adam who is much more positive and has the club in his heart. These commentators from up near the border are never going to show a passion for the club as anyone local commentating could .Andy Woods is never going to carry Barrow close to his heart, and thats understandable as his club is Carlisle.

Exactly Mike.
I thought it was just me that was picking up on Andy Woods's negativity.

I think andy is getting alot of unfair stick here that in my opinion is way ott.
Yes the guy is a carlisle supporter but he says things as he sees it.
To be fair as much as i try to be impartial i still see things with a blue and white gauze over my eyes so will come across as slightly biased which if thats what you want to hear then fair play.
Andy is a very good commentator

I think Andy does a good job for RC and Adam also for RL. We are lucky to have 2 different stations, a lot of clubs don't have any. Regarding James Philips I'm not always keen, he comes across as Carl*lse united through and through and doesn't do us any favours in how he comes across at times.

It is great to have choice these days. I personally don't have a problem with radio Cumbria, just prefer the passion of radio Lonsdale these days. Andy Wood does a decent job as does JP when filling in, there always is going to be a Carlisle bias but they do both like to see Barrow doing well. It's some of the co-commentators that I prefer not to listen to. Also I wonder how Andy or JP would of coped single handedly with a broadcast and like I say not for the first time.
So take a bit of praise when it comes your way Adam, because criticism is always just around the corner. ;)

I think that's about right Adam. I've never really minded listening to him and for someone who isn't local he does ok, sometimes let down by co-commentators though.
As others have said, it's good to have the choice.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

If you listen to some of the dross on the local radio stations across the country, you'll realise that the guys that cover Barrow are better than 99% of them.
What people on here seem to have a problem with is anyone saying a bad word against Barrow. Andy Wood is hugely positive about Barrow, but then one word that is construed as 'negative' and he's somehow anti-Barrow. Don't be so childish.

Someone who travels the length of the country to cover Barrow, when he doesn't really have to, can hardly be anti-Barrow.

JP, who has been teased on air by colleagues as being a Barrow fan even though he now usually covers Carlisle, regularly used to present the Tuesday night sports programme from the Holker Street press box or one of Barrow's away venues from 19:00 to 22:00, switching to Barrow match commentator in the middle of the show.

One non league club. Two live commentaries, 10 minutes or so on every Friday sports programme in total. Highlights with commentary a million times better than most ion the league. 2/3 sets of interviews.

Could we not take the seemingly radical step of being pleased about what we have ?

No other club in the non league will get coverage as good as that apart from Wrexham and maybe Tranmere.

If I listen to commentary it’s RC through habit but I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, for me I like Andy woods commentary because I like the fact he says it how it is if we’re shocking I want to hear that not sugar coat it - as said above it’s not that he’s rubbish it’s just too many people can’t stand the team being criticised and don’t appreciate we are barrow not Barcelona
We are lucky to have a choice
everyone is entitled to their opinion, deal with it

Its like the game we love, its all about opinions, and they do differ. AW is not "hugely positive "about Barrow, infact I would class him as hugely negative. He travels the length of the country to commentate because its his job. I do though massively appreciate Cumbrias commentaries over the years. My opinion.

IMO one gets better info on what's happening in the game from Lonsdale and slightly better analysis of the overall play from RC - at least from most of the second commentators - Goodwin, Hoskin etc. I agree that Cassidy is a pain in the wots it though.
