Playing 3-4-3 didn’t work. Let banks sit behind gotts and stevens.

Farman has cost us at Harrogate and Bradford and nearly tonight but not actually having another keeper to push him could prove costly as he knows he’s playing next week when any other player doing what he’s done would be out.

Same with zanzala. All allowed off days but nobody is pushing for his place (maybe sea) but how can after 9 league games your main centre forward not be fit ?! Has 60 mins in him max!

Farman is very inconsistent; that’s why he’s playing in league two
Obvious howler for the goal but then made a cracking save to keep us in the game later on in the half

Brilliant second half, the intensity and the effort and the skill were all there and they never gave Newport a sniff after a very shaky first half. Made for a cracking atmosphere as well.

Stayed back at the end and watching all the kids, my niece included, getting autographs and selfies with the players was excellent as well. That’s how you make future Barrow fans.

Mark Cooper has held his hand up to Farmans' error saying thats the way he wants him to play and occasionally there will be mistakes. My own opinion is that goalkeepers are not natural footballers otherwise they wouln't be goalkeepers. Even at the highest level there are 'keepers not comfortable with the ball at their feet and panic when pressurised or caught in two minds. In this instance there was nobody offering themselves for a pass and a Newport player getting uncomfortably close when he finally released it.Carlisle fans waxed lyrical about his distance kicking when he signed. Cooper doesn't want him playing that way.

Great result under the lights tonight and a good atmosphere in the crowd even tho the first 20 minutes were dire and the next 25 only marginally improved.I like others thought Banks was playing in wrong position but having listened to managers interview can now understand his tactics and Banks certainly can thread a ball through the opposition.excellent three points and both the Leeds lads are very useful.A good win against a decent team who I think will be play offs again this year.
Other good news was arrival of the burger wagon from Grange in the fanzone.Has quite a varied menu and was doing a good trade when I popped in earlier in the evening.Apparently a pizza outlet was meant to turn up as well but let us down.There were a lot of people in fanzone tonight.The bar was busy also so hopefully much needed revenue received for club.We can all look forward to stress free weekend now and await the other results to come in.Well done to manager I think he is going to give us a bit of a roller coaster ride this season and I look forward to it.

It was great to hear Mark Cooper say "[Their goal] was my fault. I asked [Farman] to play that way." Really takes the heat off the player. No doubt he'll now work on that in training to make sure it doesn't happen like that again.

It's already been said in the posts above about how embarrassingly poor we were in the first twenty minutes. I have to admit I didn't see that transformation coming along the lines, as it started to later in the first half and then dynamically so in the second half. I'm really not sure I've seen us play that well since - - - erm - - - late 1968! Yes, of course we have had more free-flowing and higher-scoring victories, but in lower leagues against weaker opposition. That second half was a purring performance backed up, by and large, by high fitness and endurance levels. Very impressed. Only change needed next time is to make sure we're not still in the changing rooms during the first 20 minutes. And we can finally, once and for all, drop that oft-repeated (but nevertheless oft true and oft warranted) refrain that we haven't yet managed to replace Ro - - - well, we've got Gotts and Stevens now (and definitely not forgetting Banks) so we can finally lay that one to rest.

I thought Dimitri Sea looked sharp and contributed well to the second half transition.
Certainly no need now to be calling for another striker.

Great to see that Mark Cooper obviously wants to play the same type of football as did Ian Evatt. Luckily, by virtue of signing the 2 Leeds lads he has the midfield players who can do it.

Yes all very positive but not sure ‘Luckily’ is the right adjective. I think by all accounts a number of clubs were interested so it will it have taken hardwork and effort to get them here. Not to mention support from the board . It’s credit to the manager, his vision , his powers of persuasion and the board , and, hopefully we will get our just rewards .

I agree with what you've said. I used "Luckily" because of where the team is in comparison to where I think it would be without those 2 players being signed!

I saw us play that well many times during the promotion winning season and I don't believe EFL2 is much better than the NL (and neither is EFL1 for that matter which I watch often). Very little between the 3 leagues. I think Gotts, Stevens and Banks are all good players but IMO none is at the level of Rooney and I'd put a fair amount of money on that the 3 combined won't score as many goals as Rooney will in a season! Of course, both Gotts and Stevens are young enough to improve a lot in the future.

hmm let's not get carried away we still miss loads of chances by not having that strikers instinct of getting into the box !

Agreed and I don't think we have a striker at the level of Quigley in terms of being a goalscorer or a central defender anywhere near as good as Tom Davies was when fit or Matt Platt is when fit. The great positive is that we now have a midfield which is mobile and can pass the ball which will create chances and keep a lot of pressure off the defence.
