Re: Barrow v Mansfield match thread
Anyone else bored of surviving and festering at the bottom of the table hoping there is 2 worse teams than us. That was absolutely crap

New 'fan' I take it.janwilder wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 5:13 pm Shocking. Why start Gotts after 3 weeks out or so. He was awful. He's not the only one. Cooper's head should be on the chopping block here. 2 wins in 15 league games with this squad and wage budget is nothing short of shocking. This free flowing attacking football he's promised has fallen away huh. Tippy tap $hit where we pass it slower than treacle without missing a man.
F*ck off Cooper you blame shifting tw@

Re: Barrow v Mansfield match thread
After a win at Colchester I expected better. Poor goals to concede and when they went down to ten we were not clever enough to break them down. Devoid of ideas and they held us comfortably.
Need something on Tuesday.

Re: Barrow v Mansfield match thread
You can see why Mansfield have now won 7 league games in a row; exactly what you need for a league two side, big solid defenders who are there to head crosses away, and a big solid centre forward who’s there to head it in at the other end, and in between that a fair bit of footballing ability and direct attacking threat. You won’t often see a side at this level who are as organised as they were when they came back out with ten men after half time.
Still think our biggest problem is we don’t have a striker that is really good in the air (Harris produced a few half decent flick ons to be fair) every single game Brough and Hutton put some great crosses in but you know it’s very unlikely anyone will get on the end of them.
We had loads of the ball second half but lacked that killer ball, or the killer run from a striker in behind to really threaten the goal. At 3v1 the game was done but it was only then we had real efforts at goal with Platt and Broughs headers. At the other end listened to Coopers interview and he’s right about not clearing the ball from set pieces but Christ someone had to stop that run in the first 30 seconds as well, he’s just taken the ball easily past 4 men without anyone even putting a foot in
I’m a massive Robbie Gotts fan but I was surprised it was White that went off for Devitt when Gotts has been out injured for a while, and Devitt plays a similar position. As for Josh Kay, he might as well have stayed on the bench, did nothing but produce one absolutely ridiculous tackle to make sure he got his usual yellow card; and I’m not sure all those who seemed to think Luke James had become a league two footballer last week will be so vocal this week……

Problem for Cooper is that he has picked a back 3 who are fairly mobile and not bad on the ball. He has a defender on the bench who can head the ball all day, but will be caught out by attackers who are quick and mobile.
I expect to see Brown and Ellis in for Jones and Platt, but Heaven help us if they are outwitted by some nippy forwards who play football on the deck.

Re: Barrow v Mansfield match thread
Well that was crap .Didn’t expect an easy game but didn’t think we would roll over so easily. We hadn’t a clue how to play ten men.Mansfield number 18 I thought best player on field.Criminal defending by us I think defence should have to practise defending set pieces all week.Manner we conceded all goals was terrible.Having scored we had a good go at them for ten minutes or so then went back to the mind numbing side to side back to keeper side to side again.Devoid of ideas no movement up front no one appeared to want ball or know what to do with it if he got it.Felt a bit sorry for Hutton often had a lot of space on the wing and everyone ignored him.Tough for Will Harris up front against muscular defenders.Had a couple of flick ons from won headers but nobody close anticipating the chance.Yet another booking for Banks.Towards the end some foul mouthed bloke effing and blinding in main stand not sure if at our team ref or opposition. Not nice in front of kids nearby. After game the usual morons outside by the lights separated from another group by police anbeing warned to go home or face arrest.Had to wait for them to be cleared before could walk on pavement. All in all a depressing performance yet again in front of good crowd who wanted something to encourage us to really get behind them.Manager made no excuses afterward and home truths be told in dressing room.Hopefully a much improved performance Tuesday. We are so much better than this but got to improve and fast.p

Mobile are you having a laugh platt and Jones are far too slow brough is ok but when he plays in a back 3 he's just not strong enough in the air !Jim wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 6:43 pm Problem for Cooper is that he has picked a back 3 who are fairly mobile and not bad on the ball. ....and to make it worse, playing “Glad all over” after our solitary goal. This is redolent of a previous manager, not today’s; and drowned out the cheering of the goal. Please, no more.

Re: Barrow v Mansfield match thread
people saying we need a reaction agree but at home we are totally unpredictable, we need a striker and someone in midfield to go at defences NOBODY wanted to take charge today if Banks was captain then you couldn't tell, no passion desire today everyone passing the buck is it too much to ask to show commitment, we played like a team who are safe but can't make the playoffs!
was Cooper trying to tell us something when in his interview when he mentioned player's signing pre-contracts ? because Matty platt is just going through the motions!

'Barrow syndrome'. It seems to happen every season - get an away win then follow it up with a poor performance at home (usually in front of a good crowd). We beat Oldham away in September then lost 3-2 at home to Colchester. Beat Mansfield away but only managed a draw v Leyton Orient at home.

That is one match I would rather forget. We weren't even at the races and some of our players might as well have been in the stands for all the good they did. They need to get their act together quickly.

All the people that boo at full time just fuxxing stay at home the players are trying there best it is was it is we are league 2 not premier league apart from shocking defending from 3 set pieces in open play they didn't have a shot on target.
I know we didn't either and people ranting on about playing against 10 men it's not easy facing a 9 man defence on to Tuesday now and hope for 3 points

Re: Barrow v Mansfield match thread
Well well well that is [SwearFilter] painful to both support and watch. We have all talked about we are short of strikers. We could have Henry, Rooney and Sergio Aguero up front and still struggle with our ability to do the basics and that’s to defend and not concede. I’ve seen my subbutteo team defend better than we did for the three goals we conceded. I find myself keeping my fingers crossed like last year that there are two teams worse than us so we can survive. Present manager not a patch on Tommy. Just like that. Awful.
