Institutional sexism and racism, which are prevailent in football’s structure, creates an environment where black players and in this case a female official, are devalued and objectified. In turn that creates an atmosphere where some people think that any person, black or female, is fair game. The “good old game” has a deep lying sickness, it needs to be confronted. Is it any wonder no players have come out as gay yet.

A lot has been said about the severity of this ban, has anybody thought he may have made some past agregous comments before, not saying he has but it makes you wonder.

Just watched the incident back on ifollow after a foul on Ellis you see Cooper looking at the female official, (can`t hear what was said of course) who flags and points at Cooper, ref then talks to female official and shows Cooper red card.

8 game ban Jesus did he threaten to knife her or something? Punishment doesn't fit the crime ffs. Not saying no ban but 8 games!!!! come on.

Isn't that an agenda pushed by the left that everyone that isn't a white male is objectified against? Racism is a different subject entirely. But sexism isn't as prevalent as its made out, from previous comments it sounds like the lineswoman gave a decision that MC didn't agree with so he told her what he thought. It only becomes sexist because he speaking to a female and without evidence of what was actually said you can't for certain know what was alleged to be said but MC is a professional so one would hope he wouldn't be intentionally sexist. Take Karen Carney for the prime example, she slagged Leeds off saying how they only got promoted because the had a break because of covid and they only just got promoted, when in fact Leeds romped the league and as soon as she got backlash from her comments its all sexist. Look at all the abuse Michael Owen gets because of his poor analysis but he shakes it off. He doesn't cry about it.

You misunderstand sexism. "...speaking to a female" is not sexist. Making demeaning comments and linking it to their gender is. You don't know what was said, none of us on here (probably) know what was said so, without the facts, we can neither condemn nor support.

Those people shouting stuff he bites back at are morons and moan constantly anyway. He needs to remember that and try and ignore them.

Or maybe he’ll see it from a fans perspective and join in with them. No wins and 3 goals in 6 home games is going to drive some to shout stuff in frustration, all within acceptable boundaries of course.

Interesting point. I commented (tongue in cheek) yesterday that last Saturday's ref should be demoted and refereeing in the Port Talbot Under 16 league. What would the reaction have been if Rebecca Welsh had been the ref and I had said exactly the same?

The important thing about his ban is that he was found responsible for not just abusing an official, but doing so in the aggravated form, because part of the abuse has been found to be discriminatory. There HAS to be a ban in those circumstances, and the ban must run for a period within 6-12 weeks.
Will be very interesting to see if Commission make their written reasons public.

Hang on, Jim, those aren't my words! That's a comment by someone else which I highlighted and commented upon. But, to answer your question: nothing. You were commenting about the refereeing without reference to the ref's gender.
