Officially, our highest ever attendance at Holker Street came on January 1954 when we drew 2-2 against Swansea in the 3rd round of the FA Cup. It was 16,874.

That's now more than 70 years ago and I know of at least two people who were there all those years ago who will be there today . . . and I don't mean me because I'm far too young and hadn't even been invented then.

I also know that one - and maybe only one after such a long time - of the Barrow team who played that day against Swansea is still alive and still here in Barrow. That player is Tom King who wore the number 11 shirt for Barrow that day.

Granted they want to finish 2nd but SURELY our desire tops there’s & if each player gives it absolute everything Josh granite style we win, Barring any red cards or silly pens etc

I’m flip flopping from huge excitement & trepidation & worry, Stressed as..Which our lads needs to overcome if they feel like us.

It’s in our own hands.

Hope you lovely people scream & shout & total backing of the team, especially if we go behind, like Donny did.

But we can't complain about what we have now and who knows what the future holds???
It would virtually be an impossibility to get over 10k (even if the ground could hold that) as far too many Barrovians travel to the cities of Liverpool, Manchester or Leeds etc on Saturdays…..even some on here 😉
Nothing is impossible Ian, look at where we have come from, look at the amazing progress.. who knows, a few years down the line when we are in championship and the grounds has been re developed and we are flying high😉

Seriously though, we do seem to be getting the town behind us slowly, the youth are seen regularly with Barrow shirts kicking a ball about, the next generation that we need to keep on board!

Look at the two fa cup games, the Wembley trips, we took thousands and it would be amazing to see that kind of following at HS going forward..

Sea Dog Sam wrote: Fri Apr 26, 2024 1:54 pm Mansfield fans have been on Facebook - Barrow AFC thread - claiming many are coming in numbers without tickets. When I bought mine I noticed the club have stated that any away fans buying tickets for home territory will have their tickets cancelled and will not receive a refund.

They're obviously going to pay on the day. Which begs the question: How will the ticket office staff know they're Mansfield fans if they're not wearing colours? Mansfield accent? Is it prominent? They could say that they're a neutral from that part of the country.

I can do a Scouse and a Cockney accent :D - I'm sure others can too.
They could easier say they are contracting in town & like footie so are here to cheer on the lads as a neutral, Hard to disprove in 3 seconds when the lines are long at the turnstiles

Gutted. 2 points from the last 7 games did for us.

No doubt there will be a debate about what went wrong and why we couldn't get over the line.

I blame the ref who called off the first bradford game we would have won that.

1 point short if only we had held on against Bradford. Oh well near mind.

We go again next season.

Here's hoping Altrincham come up. Morecambe, Carlisle, Fleetwood, Altrincham, Salford and Accrington games to look forward to with big away followings. Chin up.
