Disappointed about Skelts if that's right, was sure we'd get him too.
Some really daft stuff previously on here IMO- opinions aside, let's just crack on now

What made you so sure you would get him? He has a cracking job up here? You barrow fans think you are the Real Madrid of west Cumbria! So deluded it's unreal.

West Cumbria??? No Thanks. It's Lancashire and our playing style is more comparable with Bayern Munich.

Re: Darren Edmondson Signs
Not delusional at all, we are just a bigger club, with more potential. Aside from the last few months he loved it at Barrow, and it's a step up. I hope we at least tried to offer something similar coaching wise. An absolute gent, ,hope he does well whatever he does, even among the extravagently fingeredrockerlad workington wrote:What made you so sure you would get him? He has a cracking job up here? Re: Re: Darren Edmondson Signs
Not atall. But we're clearly a much bigger club than you with more recent success, bigger potential, more exposure and a higher budget. Thats not even trolling, just the truth. If you disagree with any of that you're deluded.rockerlad workington wrote:What made you so sure you would get him? He has a cracking job up here? Not to mention the fact he left us last season seemingly really enjoying it and worked as #2 under our new manager.

I'm sure Workington will have a bright future as a feeder club for Barrow.

In our defence though, we could be forgiven for thinking we're the Real Madrid of Cumbria with the way that our forum & BAFC are so attractive & interesting that we pull in that many posts off you lot!rockerlad workington wrote:What made you so sure you would get him? There's more of you on here than post on your own forum.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Re: Darren Edmondson Signs
Very pleased with this appointment. We need to get back to being a "local" club with "local" players. I believe the journeyman nature of players from Manc / Liverpool etc trecking up to play their "home" matches at Holker Street, and the lack of local talent in the squad has been the major factor in people losing interest in the team. I want players who actually care about Barrow and the area, and I want playing for our club to be seen as an aspiration for all our local players.
Start from the ground up, even if we do get relegated again this season, build a feeder mechanism, get people interested again and working hard to put us on the map. Forget waiting for a sugar daddy, it's not going to happen, we know what happened last time, and I for one never ever want to see that again.
I'm happy with a team of mainly local players, playing decent football with plenty of effort, and push on from there. In 1990 there was Cowps, Kenny G, Peter Mac, Kevin P to name but a few - the talent is out there, we just need to harness it.
Well done to the board for doing the right thing.
Welcome back to Holker Street Darren.
