Interesting comment from Chorley FC match report
Barrow have been in the top two since mid-October and over the two games we’ve faced them in the league they are clearly the best side in the division we’ve faced this season. Barring a catastrophic collapse in form we won’t be catching them this season and if/when they lift the title they’ll be worthy Champions.

If you read their forum the supporters were also quite complimentary of us as well, even to the point of saying Garry Flitcroft got it wrong when he said we came for a point, they said it looked more like Chorley were happy with the point. They mention that we are a well organised team and they hope we go up automatically as they wouldn't fancy their chances against us in any play-off game.

Probably one of the most unbiased forums out there.

I think we struggle against certain types of sides- teams with direct pace, yet we looked comfortable against freescoring Chorley (although we created little ourselves). It's the workrate of the team that impresses. Every player chases down and looks to win back possession which is what we want in a Barrow team.

Two points to make on the ""trouble""

Firstly the police were filming us all the way from town so therefore any pictures are obviously pointless gash evidence as the police were already doing their jobs so you didn't have too. And secondly how can we the barrow fans under police escort 2 miles away from the pub we were in where we were told we couldn't bring any drinks with us! Then throw glasses at chorley fans who were stood outside ""THE EAGLE"" drinking out of proper glass cups lad. Good day, could have been a better result. Onwards and upwards. Bluebirds.

I have just recalled this and I haven't come across it before where the home club also awarded an away side MoM alongside their own player.
They gave it to Nyall Cowperthwaite.

Re ‘hoofball’ ‘dreadful football’ etc. and all its unattractiveness for the viewer; I recall our first few games back in the Conference under Daz and Dave. Right away I noticed the football played was not as frenetic with opposition players taking their time to pick a pass and somehow being able to free up more space by their superior positional play and manoeuverability. Barrow seemed to follow suit, adapted well and began to hold their own in the league playing some decent stuff.

You often hear the phrase ‘We went down to their level’ but I think it can work the other way as well when opposing teams adopt a more measured passing game i.e. you can go up to their level. Here’s hoping anyway should we make it to the promised land of the Conference and improve the squad.

I'm sure you're not suggesting that Cowps should be playing right back, but it's also worth pointing out that he had possibly the worst game of any individual Barrow player in (my) recent memory playing right back at Hyde. No idea if he's got a natural position, but probably only really impressed me in defensive midfield this season.

Interesting comments, and I agree on the whole. I do understand that sometimes circumstances or conditions require that you abandon the pretty stuff and switch to a more direct approach, but there's been precious little respite from the agricultural stuff all season. I think what frustrates a lot of fans is that the current bunch of players are capable of so much better. On odd occasions this season they have got the ball down for ten or fifteen minute spells, and turned on some decent stuff....usually to good effect. There have been some well-worked goals scored this season. We have been tagged as a "long ball team" by fans of other clubs, and I find that a bit embarrassing. It's great to be top of the league with four matches to go, but let's be honest, it's not really that exciting is it? Yeah, I know...there's no pleasing some people.

you are right we have really good wingers but for some reason they don`t attack the fullbacks and get to the byeline,they are instead used as defensive midfielders,when they have attacked i.e. beat their markers we look a usefull team!

Totally agree but the bit with the away teams squad was very poor and lacking an modern info I.e walkers info mentioned his time in Scotland but not any of his time at barrow, Luton, York lol

we can build a pretty team in the future, i want out of this league THIS season and i don't give a jot how its done.
